Hello,
My 2007 Versa 6 speed has 101,458 miles and I need to change the transaxle oil. The hardest part about this DIY is getting the transaxle drain plug socket. I live in a major metropolitan city and I was unable to find the square socket needed to remove the drain plug. I ordered my socket set from Amazon for about $6.00. Anyway, here is the write up:

Tools:
8mm square socket
3/8 socket wrench
four jack stands
floor jack.
drain pan
small funnel
3 feet of clear hose
2 Liters of Elf 75W-80 GL-4 gear oil

Step One:
Jack the car on a level surface and place a jack stand at each jack point of the car to ensure the vehicle is leveled.

Step Two:
Place a drain pan, attach your square socket to your ratchet wrench and loosen the drain plug. I heard that you need a new copper ring, but the dealership did not have have one so I just reused the one that was there originally.

Here is the socket set I got on Amazon.

Step Three:
Open the fill port set on the side of the transaxle. You will need to reach back but it is not difficult to removed the plastic plug; I used my hands to unscrew it.

Here is shot of the fill port once the cap was removed.

Here is a close up of the plastic plug. Just like the copper seal for the drain plug, the dealership was out of the rubber seal so I reused the one that was there.

Step Four:
Once all the oil has drained out, you cap the fill plug and snake the plastic tube down into the fill port from the top the engine. The auto part stores have tools that pump the oil in but I didn't feel like spending too much money. I went to Home Depot and bought 5 feet of clear tubing and attached a small funnel that use to refill my camping lanters. I used about 2 liters of gear oil: Elf 75W-80 GL-4. I poured the oil into the small funnel that was attached to the clear tubing and let gravity drive the fluid into the transaxle. According to the manual, you need to pour that stuff into the fill port until starts to spill out, once it begins to leak out the fill hole, let it drain out for a little bit, clean the overfill, cap the fill port with the plastic plug, and you are done. Hope this helps someone.
