I have had two 240s in the past and I am looking to buy a third here soon and I was wondering how to give it the most pep obviously get a header and exhaust and air intake but as far as that I'm not sure I was thinking bigger plug wires and bigger fuel pump/injectors and cams as well but still not sure any input would be great I also do not wanna build up the engine on the inside any further than cams simply because I haven't done it before and I need this car for my daily driver I was also wondering if there was anything that could be done with the ECU to get more power out of it?. I want a KA-T but have to save for that lol. thanks much appreciated -Mark

Id say go

Intake, exhaust, cams, injectors, ignition helper, ITBs, lightened rotational components.

Tuning of course can fit anywhere into there. Thats pretty much all youd ever want to do to an NA motor without wasting retarted amounts of cash. Even ITBs are way too expensive sometimes. There is nothing like a fast revving ITB 4 cyl though!

1. Don't tear apart a DD on the weekend if you need it Monday.

2. High compression on a built block is the ticket.

3. Save money and ka-T, because for the same amount it would take to get 247 WHP Na, you can get 418 WHP turbo. Although the linear power band is so predictable and sounds nice, but on the other hand getting pushed hard into your seat at 3250 rpm's at 26 psi feels just as nice.

What are your aspirations at life for this car? Auto-X, parking lot drift, or weekend dragger?

This is your answer. You won't make any decent power going NA. Personally I think you would be waisting your money. You might get some better throtle respone and it will be louder, but it won't be fast. I would just save your money.

So theres no point in building you're engine even if you're going T? Wouldn't it make it that much faster or are there other priorities after turboing?

^ To partially answer your question.

Most parts will have to be replaced. Staying NA i don't really see you maxing the stock injectors, so going turbo you'll need new injectors and a pump obviously. exhaust mods like headers will be replaced with a turbo manifold and downpipe.NA cams and turbo cams often have different profiles, this will have to be dealt with accordingly.an NA build usually relies on high compression, for turbo purposes low compressions is better. If you go nuts with it an NA intake is designed to maximize the speed of the air through the runners to get as much air into the cylinders as possible. A turbo intake manifold doesn't care about speed it cares about flow, your forcing the air into it. (hence forced induction)

So if you actually did a full NA build, high compressions, high overlap cams, headers etc. you'd find you'd end up replacing most of it to go turbo. Unless you feel like having 2 engines then just swapping them depending on which you want to drive.

You could buy my ka-t. Asking 7900... Can't pass strict emissions where I'm at.

Dont waste your money trying to get any power out of the KA NA. People have spent anywhere between $5000 to $10000 (and over) to get an NA KA to put down just 200 at the rear wheels. Just save for your KA-T project.

You could get a nitous kit... You can get a decent kit for around in the 300 dollar range.. screw spending your money on a built na motor. Like some people have said you will spend close to the same on trying to make a beast na motor. So you could get a nitrous kit 75, 100 hp kit. If you did you need to get your timing retarded, colder plugs, and you can get a bigger fuel pump if you want. Or save your money and go turbo. But don't go the cheap turbo route. Such as ebay... maybe some things like your i/c and piping but some things its best to not cheap out.. but on here you can go to the classifieds and find a used complete turbo kit...

A nitrous sprayed engine is not N/A.

The answer to the OP's original question is to buy a fully counter weighted crank for right around 1600 bucks from Brian Crower. The fully build the motor with high comp pistons, fully built head capable of a 10000 rpm limit, run race gas, fully tuned, and you will hit 300 hp.

A serious N/A build with a stock crank the Ka is a complete waist of time and money. Like said previously, you wont hit 200 HP on a Ka24de regardless of how much money or time you spend. The ability to make power N/A really depends on your rev limit, and the stock crank is not capable of making/sustaining power at high rpms.
