Drive a rental car.

I just drove a brand new Dodge Grand Caravan to Vegas and back to SD. What a piece of junk. When I got back and climbed into my QX4 and started driving home... oh man! What a difference!

While not as fast on the acceleration, it feels like a secure, nimble tank compared to that swaying box on wheels I drove for 600+ miles.

I agree, after driving a domestic car/truck, you will really appreciate the hard work that Nissan engineers invested in the QX4/Pathfinder.

At my work, we drive Chevy Astro's (4.3L V6). While the Astro is way quicker than our R50's (and that's fully loaded with parts too) they just don't last. Our Chevy's usually hit the death bed around 150k miles, at which point we'll sell it for parts. They are not worth being repaired, most mechanics have trouble diagnosing them, even the Chevy dealer. We sold the last one with 140k miles, barely running, for $900. Meanwhile my QX4 has 140k miles and the engine still purrs, still haven't had any mechanical failures of any sort. One rental car that did make me feel sad getting back in the QX4, is the Nissan Murano. It's quick, nimble, agile, great mpg, and still has a good AWD system. I drove it for about a week. It's nice to actually be able to pass people. When I got back in my QX4, the seat seemed more comfortable, but when I started driving, I thought there was something wrong with the engine. I thought "Why is it going so slow??" then I realized that this sluggishness was normal and I had just become accustomed to this. I mean it felt REAL SLOW. But considering the QX4's limitations, you can't argue much. For a car that just doesn't die and can go almost anywhere, i'm really happy with what I got

Also have an Escalade...Don't get me wrong, it's an Awesome beast. But there is something about the QX4 that the Caddi can't touch, and it goes beyond handling.

I dont get why you guys think the QX4 is slow? Ive only got the V6 3.5L but I think its pretty damn quick with a damn good bit of torque, Ive beat a fair number of cars and buddies cars just messin around, passing people is a breeze....

Personally, I love passing people who can't get out of the freakin' parking lot after a huge dump of snow. I mean, really, *anyone* can pass anyone else on the highway... assuming you can get your little POS out of your parking stall.

The Pathy is priceless when it comes to Canadian winters.

And yes, the 3.5L has plenty of power on the highways... maybe they're talking about the 3.3L or earlier? Who knows.

well i have a 3.5L engine. ive had 2 pathfinders both 2001 and i have to say the first one i had was real fast. quick off the line i mean i kept spinnin the back end by accident. the new one i have seems more sluggish but i think i need to change my spark plugs and things like that. if you know of any reason why it may be sluggish compared to the old one id like to know so i can get to the problem. i would love to have that kick back.

Yeah, we're talking about the 3.3L. It's sluggish. Torquey, but sluggish.

the 3.5L is a great engine, despite their little problems with it. Wish I had one, though I think I'm happier with mine in the long run, I think I can do a lot more to the bottom end of the engine when I have a shop finally.

Couldn't agree more. Rented a Dodge Caliber last year in Florida. Worst piece of crap I've ever driven. This car should be taken off the road. Anyone that actually buys one is nuts.Rented a Chev Impala earlier this year in Vegas. Better than the Dodge, but oh so boring. Also drove a Caravan 2 years ago in Georgia, and felt the same as SnowSurFlax. Awful ride.Always happy to get behind the wheel of my Pathy. (and my other 2 Nissans).

yup I definitly agree with everyone, I worked at a chrysler dealership for over a year and had to drive all those crappy chryslers everyday. There were a few products from them I did like but for the most part I was just happy to get into my pathy at the end of the day

Rental update. I'm in Florida this week and picked up a Chevy HHR (PT Cruiser clone). On the positive side, the ride and handling is pretty decent. Very quiet on the freeway. Quieter than my Altima. That's it though. This thing is so underpowered it's scary. Better pack a lunch if you plan to pass anybody on the highway. The visibility is extremely poor too. Small windows and big pillars. Not very safe. The interior is all wrong too. Nothing is where it should be, and things are backwards. For example, the power window controls are at the bottom of the centre console, NOT on the arm rests. All wrong. I'll be happy to return home to my Pathy, thank you very much.
