Well, I already changed the high beams out... those were easy... but me and a friend have NO IDEA how to change out low beams. We unscrew a piece of plastic, which exposes some rubber... thats as far as we got... any help???

theres a retainer clip that keeps the light bulb in. took me about 2 hours to figure this out i think. take off all the plastic stuff and the plug until there is only the end of the light bulb. then right in the middle on both sides of the bulbs should be little prong things to sqeeze or expand to get the clip out to remove the light bulb. ull see what i mean when u do it. i think i took the whole headlight out to figure it out. its only 4 bolts on each plus the screw to get the cornor light out. then u can turn it around for a better veiw

MWAHAhahahahahaha!!!!

You have discovered the hardest piece of regular maintenance on the s14!!!! I started a thread about this last year when I had to change mine. It was a nighmare!!!

Here is the link to that thread if you want to read about my plight!

Those little clips come off pretty easily.... but they are a BIOTCH to put back on. I spent a couple hours of my life in a Wal Mart parking lot trying to wrestle those miserable little pieces of shiot back into place. Finally... one of them slid down into the light assembly!!! I had to remove the whole thing just to get the clip back out.

If I had to do it over again... I would remove both headight assemblies and work on it where you've got some room to manuever. It is very easy to take them out... and it is very much worth saving yourself the headache. They just don't leave you enough room to work with those clips with the headlight in place.

yeah the clips are absolutely no good. When i changed mine out i figured the clip was just some stupid useless thing i would never need -- and threw it away. BOY WAS THAT A MISTAKE

I ended up going almost 5 months with 1 beam pointing upwards and the other pointing normal until nissan hooked me up with a used clip from a junk yard.

The easiest way is to take the whole headlight out. Nissan really screwed up on this. When i had my Z nothing was easier than changing BOTH high and low beams. just twist out! -- same with the high beams on the 240...how come they couldn't just make them both twist out?? dumb japs

This thread is a life saver. I saw it before I tried to change one of my low beams. There is absolutly no way I could have changed the bulb with out removing the whole assembly. 1.5 hours later and a small burn (don't think about touching a bulb before it cools off) I'm up and running. Thanks guys!

I gave it a try with out taking out the assembly, but I couldn't get the plug to budge off. I guess I spent some of the time checking the forum on how to remove the grill. I had cracked part of one of the snap on pieces before I figured out how to pry them up. If I had to do it again, 20-30 minutes should be enough.
