Something occurred to me this weekend while I was out in my garage, elbow-deep in antique Datsun funk...

Thus far, Johnny Mac has been content to stand by and watch the two clowns punch each other in the head. They're the Democratic Party's worst enemy, by a long shot. He doesn't have to do a damn thing until one is crowned "the winner".

Imagine this: Exactly 24 hours after the Dems crown their darling, whether it be Obama or Clinton, McCain issues a press release announcing his running mate:

Condoleeza Rice.

Game freakin' over.

Put his hand on a Bible and start moving furniture, because the new Commander-in-Chief has just been determined.

Thoughts? Or did I inhale too much rust-dust this weekend?

Condoleeza is a sharp cookie, but not a politician.

I expect to see Romney get the nod. Mit is fairly clean and doesn't have a lot of baggage to bring.

Interestingly, the SD paper today called for Hillary to drop from the race and let Obama have it, for the sake of the party. Now an Obama/Edwards ticket vs. a McCain/Romney ticket would make for a really, really interesting election.

I was thinking about this same thing this weekend... How smart is it that McCain has been jet setting all over the globe glad handing foreign leaders and working on a solid foreign policy for the last 2 weeks?! He's rounding up a lot of international backing while the two "Dem-Wits" have been busy setting back the Black and female cause 50 years! I'd agree with you that he is going to come out with a one-two punch when the dust settles on the left... Should be interesting!

Obama / Edwards would be laughable.

Romney would be a nice choice, tempering some of Mac's perceived "centrism".

If Romney got the nod it I would have no trouble supporting them. Otherwise JM is too GW for me. Remember, you heard Obama/Edwards here on NICO first.

Powell is way too smart to go back into a political position. Besides, an ex-JCoS would never make a good VP. Once you've had 5 stars on your shoulder, playing second fiddle to a civilian would be too stressful. (Although, it would certainly dissolve part of the "3AM phone call" argument, I would think.)

Ummm hummm (clears throat)

General Powell was just that.. a General and never attained the rank of General of the Army (5 Stars), like that of General of the Army Omar Bradley. Which reminds me, one of the cadets that we sponsored at West Point was part of a group that stole the sign to Bradley's parking space.

Mac has done a couple things too, flapped his gums about supporting initiatives to fix Global Warming and some BS about illegal immigration. While those get relatively ignored, he is hit heavily on his low financial IQ thus Romney would strengthen that area.

Uhmmm,,, doesn't Chairman of the Joint Chief's of Staff get the 5th. star? Or is that only in the time of war? Regardless, he outranked everyone else in the military while at that position. And Gen's have parking spaces instead of drivers? What's this world coming to?

I was just giving you a hard time... Bob.I wanted to make sure you knew that you promoted Gen Powell.

Yes, in a time of Total War we typically promote a General to the rank of General of the Army. The highest rank you can achieve is General of the Armies, but that rank has not been bestowed on anyone after General of the Armies John Pershing. George Washington also was bestowed the rank as well.

Technically, during Operation Desert Storm, Norman Schwartzkopf reported directly to the Secretary of Defense and then to the President of the United States as the Unified Commander of CENTCOM. Which is interesting because even though Colin Powell was the highest ranking military officer in the US Military, he had no operational command during the war. Not that he didnt have any input being an advisor to the President and his Cabinet and the responsibilty of the readiness and morale of the US Military. Also, I believe that they were both 4 star Generals at the same time. I just find that interesting....

And yes, General Bradley did have a driver and a car provided for him, but at the United States Military Academy he had his own reserved spot.

I've thought the same thing, Greg. A black woman - bound to give the Dems a fit. But I thought there were a lot of Condi-haters, and it wouldn't really work.

Then I saw Frontline's "Bush's War". It was surprisingly fair, for a certified Commie show. One of things that became VERY clear, is that Condi fought Rumsfeld tooth and nail, and was instrumental in finally forcing him out. So, she just might be an asset.

Another good candidate would be Christie Todd Whitman.

I don't know about that. When she accepted her position I remember talk radio was full of people calling in and calling her all kinds of things, from "she's not a black woman" to relatively a "Uncle Tom" and even Bush's black ho. It was retarded and if she is selected it will be nothing but Mac trying to get the black/female vote.

Sorry, you can't win with these people. Hopefully they don't curb their 26" rims on the way to pick up their welfare checks.

Damn! I don't know whether to laugh or be angry. I'm leaning toward the former, as 'rims' (wheels, for crying out loud) and welfare have never been my thing. Although, I do remember the cheese, while impossible to melt, was even better than Velveeta.

GUBMINT CHEEZ YO!

Yeah, I said it - But only 'cuz I had to eat it.

Bobby, if Johnny Mac is "too GW" for you, there's a problemo - He's about as far from teh George as one can get while still remaining in the same political party.

Living in "Ground Zero" of the immigration debate, I'm fine with his stance on illegal immigration. I'm also not concerned about his financial savvy.

All I want is someone who supports smaller government, adheres to the "Peace Through Strength" doctrine, and doesn't let the namby-pamby handwringers dictate foreign policy via cell phone from their Jacuzzi in Hollywood.

Laugh or angry about which part? A black woman being dismissed (pretty harshly in some cases) primarily because she is working for GW or because you go to the welfare office ridin' on 26" rimz?

Yo?

When I look that far right, (hard to see that far with the naked eye) All I see is two blurs, like twin stars in a distant galaxy, twinkling away. When he posed beside GW at the WH and accepted his endorcement, I thought, President Obama, you're going to like the living in the White House.

Now, if McCain nabs Romney, I'll give a second look. We'll see how this plays out.

The more charismatic candidate tends to get elected. Chicklet Cheek and Ms. "Mushroom Cloud" vs. Obama and Edwards? Not a chance.

If you watch the news you would think she has lost. Everyone is wanting her to stop with her campaign and such because "she has no chance to win".

Well, Obama can't win without the Super Delegates either and for the most part I don't believe the DNC goes by popular vote so it's still a toss up.
