Not familiar with this type of VG30DE this is. Thought it was the one that never went into production as I believe it was going to go into the Mid-4, but someone told be they actually produced this engine in another vehicle.

Q45?

If so.....how/where do I get them?

Interesting, I have never seen that type of VG before.

BTW, welcome to NICO! Make a new thread and tell us all about your Z, and include more pics! Your Z looks really nice from your sig.

Welcome to NICO!

I've never seen that VG either. Certainly not out of a Q45 though as they have always been V8 powered.

That is a VG30DET Single Turbo. It was in a bunch of weird cars and vans in Japan, more importantly in the 88 and 89 300zx.

It was a VG30DE mated to just one of the same turbos that are in the TT Z32. It made between 230hp and 255hp depending on the application.

Finally, no, it's not worth it. The piping sucks, the manifold sort of sucks, all in all, it's not good for a single turbo setup if you were so inclined.

Z31's never came with DOHC VG's did they? Maybe I'm thinking of something else but I'm quite sure they didn't.

As for that motor pic....that might be out of a Cima

Its a vg30de from a 92-97 nissan leopard (F32).

Branded here as an infinity J30 (albeit with a different engine) and although it does have a unique manifold, it delivers almost 20hp less than the z32 version.

edit: ya it was on the 300zr too, my appologies, the J30 used a vg30de with the same intake manifold as a z32.

I was told it was the Q45, but now that I think about it....I heard it was in the Y32 Cedric and Gloria if I am not mistaken. I originally didn't want the single turbo setup, just wanted the bread box type intake and valve covers for a different look to put on an NA for a local guy that inquired on it. I would most likely modify the design a bit. It's going on an NA so it won't really do anything besides just look different honestly. But it's what he wants....I was just trying to source if for him.

Thanks for the info BTW.

nissan made a special edition z31 in 89 in japan that had the new acclamed z32 motor in it it cam with a single turbo or in a na form and thats what your looking at they are extremly rare they only made around 3000 of these cars and my guess is there can't be more them 500 of these motors floating around

Valve covers are different as the stock Z32 valve covers are raised at certain point that are in line with the normal Z32 upper plenum. Not to mention the placement of the oil cap.
