I think I would pass on a 15 year old car from NY. Too much rust for me.justjuiceit44 wrote:What got me thinking about turning this car into a sleeper was this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1Obviously the car would need a full tune-up including timing belt and transmission flush (which would not be too hard for me to do the work, since I am an ASE-certified). The bad part is that it also needs front and rear shocks/struts: I know exactly why since I drove in that area during Christmas (roads are brutal!). The super low mileage concerns me also, since they may have only changed the oil once a year.

We are spoiled down here. (Mississippi) We got our first snow in SEVEN years 2 weeks ago and that didnt' even stick to the roads, just a couple-three inches on the ground/cars.justjuiceit44 wrote: Too much rust for you?! Then you would have had a heart attack if you would have seen my 1976 Suburban that was in Michigan its entire life! After 30 years of salt and moisture, the amount of rust on the body, exhuast, and frame probably weighted more the entire J30! In fact the first day I got it, I was moving a bunch of stuff and was opening and closing the doors a lot. I think I had a weight reduction of about 100 lbs from all the rust the came off!
