Before I moved to TN I lived in Chicago. In Chi-town my commute was 45 minutes and it took me all of 21 miles, that was if I left "in the window". The window was a time frame that if I left in I got to work 15 minutes early, but if I missed by even 5 minutes I was at least 30 minutes late. Driving home was usually an hour if I left by 4PM, if I left after that it was 90 minutes - if it was a Friday you could usually double those times.

My current drive in TN/NC takes a little over an hour and is 65 miles through the Blue Ridge Mountains. :)

Driving in NYC is not as crazy as Boston... :bigthumb:

Though since the completion of the Big Dig, getting in/out of there got easier.

boston traffic sucks, but at least it's easy to navigate (post big dig). nyc straight blows c***.

questions like this suck because if there's an ounce of traffic, everyone will argue that their area is the worst for traffic. it's like asking how s*** your local roads are. the only people who can honestly comment are the ones who have traveled all over the country, spending time in each area.

that being said, ct traffic only exists incessantly at the I-91/I-95 intersection. it may not always be bad, but there's always congestion of some sort. i avoid that merger at all costs.

Boston sucks so bad. The other day, I took I-90 home. I left the place at 430, didnt get home until 7. The thing that sucks is bell circle right when i-90 turns into route 1A. And us massachusetts drivers being the spawn of Satans sperm are just god awful. A woman crossed the median to get out of the traffic and got 2 flat tires.
