More specifically, how much boost and timing retard are you running?

Please be specific such as:

"I pull .5 deg up to 9psi then .75 every deg after that and I use 93 octane."

Or,

"I run 7lbs and pull 3 deg only above 4500 rpm."

If you inject water or the like, forget I asked.

When I had my KA-T with Emanage Blue, I only used the fuel correction feature and then adjusted timing beyond about 4500 RPM (can't remeber exactly). I pulled it progressively as it appoached redline and only above a certain MAF voltage (again, too long ago to remember exactly) as I would be at highest loads then. I had pulled some timing as I had hear light detonation on hot days at the upper RPM range. Gave my self a slight cushion to accouont for detonation I might not have been able to hear.

I used 91 octane.

I run 93 octane.

T3/T04E 8psi, 370's, 200k mile engine (HOLY CRAP!), Z32 MAF

Total timing from about 4,000rpm to redline is 15* BTDC in the high load cells.

For launch control (2-step feature, active only when clutch pedal is depressed), I run a 4k rev limiter and use 0* total timing at full load (WOT @ 4k rpm). This makes for about 6-8psi in nuetral for leaving the line.

WOT only:

15 deg near peak TQ and then it rises to 18 deg. linearly going towards redline (7600 rpms)

Is that 15deg on the E or DE? How many degrees are pulled? And what is TQ (torque?)?

I am going to run my super 60 at about 14lbs and ~ 11:5 - 12:1 AF ratio.

I'm wondering if .5deg per lb is good or should I step it up to .75deg per lb?

while were on the subject.... does anyone have a sheet that shows the stock ecu timing tables at wot? thatd help alot seeing that. that way we know about how much we should retard. i have an apexi ITC which allows for +- 15 degree retard at 800, 2400, 4000, 5600, and 7200. if i saw a stock timing map itd help me out. im running 17psi on a t3/t4e 50 trim with 8.8:1 arias, and 93 octane with octane booster. im pulling 7 at 2400, 10 at 4000, and 13 at 5600, and 7200.

I'm my way back from NOPI my 5th gear was at 12degrees timing when I went WOT..... Although my car is having severe timing issues....

15psi-17*

KATwo40, your tune is jacked up man... That is way too much retard for your setup.. Don't even say its because you have a 200k engine.. If you want less power, run less boost and correct timing..

Yes, it's a tune that I'll be running for the new engine. I haven't dialed anything in on this old engine, just checking the 2 step function and all.

Devious set this tune up for me as a base tune to get around. I'll hit the dyno with the new engine, but there's no reason whatsoever to spend dyno money on this old engine.

I hope that made sense.

I really think, after looking at the map more in-depth, that at 8psi it's really more like somewhere around 19-21*. I really need to get the consult up and running so I can do some map tracing and find out for sure...either that or turn up the boost *grin*

What does 19-20 mean? Total timing? Where, what motor?

How much are you pulling from stock at max boost?

How about I just post the tune?

Here's my setup:

T3/T04E .50 trim, .63 A/R turbine (.76 trim wheel)370'sZ32 MAFStock DOHC

I'm currently running just under 10psig. I need to get the consult up and running, then I can tell you where in the map I'm operating at this boost pressure.

I do know this...it's a little on the rich side (10.8-11.0:1), but I suspect a boost leak or two. I'll get the ol' tester rigged up next week and get busy finding/fixing any and all boost leaks.

HOLY CRAP I found LOTS of boost leakage today! No wonder my AFR's were dipping into the 10's! Furthermore, I tried to raise the boost pressure yesterday and all I could get was 9.5psig, regardless of MBC adjustment. Then, I could feel the flatspot @ WOT a round 4500rpm and see black smoke roll. I knew right then I had to check for leaks.

Anyone who hasn't made a boost leak tester...DO IT. It's like $5.00.

I plan on measuring boost at the manifold.

That's where I measure boost.
