I have a 97 s14 with a zenki s14 sr20det in it. Ive done all the basic bolt ons and was wondering how reliable these motors are. It came from Heavy throttle and was checked out throughly. I was just wondering If they usually last a long time if driven correctly with maybe a little playing on the weekends. Im running around 18psi.

I've had my S13 Blacktop for over a year and i have beat the **** out of it on a daily basis and i have never had any serious problem. Besides starter alternater (sp?) and the usual crap like that. As long as you keep it up you shouldn't have a problem.

The turbo and the exhaust gaskets are going to be your main problems with the boost running that high constantly.

I'd run street boost around 10 PSI to keep the turbo happy. 18 is a little high in my honest opinion.

Yea that is high trust me i've learned my lesson on boosting high all the time. Now I have a stock turbo that has shaft play like no other.

Im just having a lot of trouble with my supra and was just wondering if im stepping into another unreliable project. I do run 1 bar through the week.

If the motor is in good shape, it should be pretty reliable. Keep in mind though, generally the more power you make, the less reliable it becomes with a shorter life span as well. Another thing to keep in mind is that the motor was probably in the junk yard as well. If you're buying a junk yard motor, so don't expect it to be perfect.

I didn't see you mention a metal headgasket in your aftermarket parts. If you are going to build it up, you should at the very least get a metal HG.
