Good afternoon. I am looking to buy a 240sx with an sr20det and was wondering hoe safe and reliable is this setup the current owner is running.

It all depends,on how he maintened the car,if he rebuilt the sr first,really a crap shoot,be ready to repair lots of wiring, chaseing gremlins,and stock up on your headache meds of choice

If the only tuning is an AFC, it isn't safe at all. If it has a tuned ECU and then fine tuning with AFC, that is good. I would insist on a compression test to verify the tuning (or lack of tuning) has not led to detonation.

This is what the seller responded. He owns a performance shop so I dont.

" You are not making any sence when u have bigger injectors the computer sends the same signal which means you are dumping more fuel the afc takes away fuel in percentage to allow it not to run too rich. It also modifies the maf signal so you can use a z32 maf. It does not control any timing the factory computer still do that"

He also said the car is running rich. Does that matter?

most reflashed ecu's are gonna run rich. It's not a bad thing..better then leaning out lol

So a few things, is this even a safe setup for dd ? Would I need yotune it because I heard apexi safc neo is caca. He says the car puffs when floored for a second. Blackish grey smoke and he said its because its a fat tune or some s***. Halp pleasee
