What's the significance of 320whp? Why is that your goal? I don't think the S15 turbo will get you there.

It won't get you there. I think Dee (boostboy) made about 320 whp with a t3/t04b at 18 psi or so. That'd be a good choice. It's very reachable, but takes work.

Please abuse the search button as this topic has been covered waaaaaay too many times already. Btw, an S15 turbo will not yield you 300whp. Close, but no cup of tea unless you mod the hell out of the engine and put the turbo past it's peak power bacnd which willultimately cause the turbo to **** itself.

the size of turbo is not the problem since i can get a t3/t4 for around 450$ what as far as injectors and internals will need to be changed and can the ca even hold that much..BTW the significance was a number off the top of my head and sounded good- Brad

t3/t4 and a boost controller will get you there or right around...just have to watch out and make sure you dont lean out. might want to be safe and upgrade to some 550cc injectors a 300z maf and a tunned ecu... and you will be setting pretty nice around 320 without any worries...maybe more depending on the boost but remember the stock head gasket can only go to 18...does that all sound right guys..its been a while since i talked about this lol

Depends on the turbo. It's a safe bet to get a better head gasket and ARP studs while you're at it when shooting for that kind of power. Don't put on a t3/t4 with stock injectors and raise the boost!

When people buy a t3/t4 they don't realize there's alot to it. You'll need the turbo, oil lines, gaskets, flanges, a custom downpipe, manifold, some welding, possibly a new inlet and outlet pipe and possibly some silicone couplers. So even if the turbo is only $450 or $500 (at minimum) there are hidden costs that most people don't think about. Those costs add up really fast and might equal the price of the turbo alone. Edit: I almost forgot, t3/t4 turbos don't come with internal gates, so one has to be added as an option, or an external gate will have to be purchased. Even if it costs $1200 for the whole setup, it's a still a bargain.

i can not see 300+rwhp a problem for the ca. this is my aim and from what i have seen, heard and read it is achievable. no need for forged pistons or aftermarket rods, just a good tune with heaps of fuel as long as the engine is in good condition (compression, blow-by etc).

300rwhp is my aim aswell but through an auto and in a Datsun B120 1200 ute.

I'm assuming you have already thought about your drivability? 200hp/liter IMO is about the limit for daily driving/streetability. [party-pooper]If this is indeed your only means of transportation, your reliability and engine/drivetrain longevity will be reduced[/party-pooper] If this is just a play/race car, then why stop with 320rwhp? You will have to be messing with things all the time anyway, might as well have some big balls under the hood so you have something to show for all the work you will put into your car.

What he said. People list target HP numbers all the time, but never seem to list target RPMs for that power. Torque numbers would be useful as well, but no one seems to think that way. Target PSI at a given RPM would also be more helpful than a HP number. For instance:

"Can anyone suggest a setup to flow 250 ft/lbs. of air at 3500 RPM?" -OR-"Can anyone sugest a setup to hit 21psi @ 4000 RPM?"

These help focus the approach, and the necessary upgrades, necessary to get the -car- you want. Build a HP number from the car's intent, don't define the car around a HP number. I apologize if this sounds condescending; I'm just a little frustrated with the "how do I get 300hp" question.

Ah, ok. 450+ HP, with proper upgrades.

Just for the record, since "Cooch" keeps questioning if the CA can make that much power, the CA18DET is internally sound enough to support over 400whp. Keep in mind that I said internally, not electronically. It will need a gang of go-fast supporting cast parts to get it there. A T25 is worthless in this quest.

Short answer...yes

Sarcastic answer...Hehe, well yes it's reachable. I'm sure 600rwhp is reachable too, however you might only last a few passes down the strip before something gives out.

yes, its very reachable. youll want some injectors, larger maf (or map sensor if possible), a metal head gasket, a t3/t04 turbo and a new manifold, a fmic, boost controller, intake, exhaust, some gauges, a turbo timer and some fuel management (sds, fcon, power fc, e-manage, etc.). youll be good to go.

oh! and dont forget the all important limited slip rear end and some wider wheels with some sticky rubber. 320whp in a 2700lb car will be like a rocket sled.

drivetain life span depends on how you drive it not how much power it has. most parts dont break because of the high hp or torque a car is producing, just abuse.driveability depends on each person, some people don't mind putting up with lag and higher than normal fuel consumption, i know i don't. don't forget we have boost controllers to adjust the amount of power the car has at any time we like, therefore it can be a 250whp daily driver and 350whp weekend racer. ahhh the joy of turbos.
