I was hunting for a G37 sedan in 6MT and it seems that they are not as easy to find as the G35 sedan in 6MT. Did they make less of these or is it just that people are currently holding on to them for whatever reason?

I can't speak for others, but I'm holding on to mine.

I'm looking to get an 09 or 10 G37 but am a little confused on the "S". I thought it meant Sport model but see that there was a Sport package that could be added, so no red "S" on rear. I figured the red "S" must be 6MT with manual tranny, but see some that have the red "S" but are automatics, others listed as "G37 Sport" with no red "S". What gives?

Good question. I have noticed the same as well. I believe a "G37 Sport" is the 6MT but it doesn't mean it will have the red "S". A "G37 Journey" is an automatic. That's what I think at least. Someone might prove me wrong.

Whereas in the G35 S, the “S” represented a sport-tuned suspension, 18-in. wheels, and paddle shifters, for the G37 S, it now signifies a quicker 14.7:1 steering ratio (versus the G35 S’s 16.4:1) and an Akebono brake system that boasts bigger discs (14.0-in. front/13.8-in. rear versus 13.0-in. front/rear) and four-piston front/two-piston rear fixed calipers. There are also new 18-in. alloys to accommodate the beefier binders. In 60-to-0 braking, the G37 S nearly matches the performance of the lighter G35 S — 110 ft versus 109 — but on a long, twisty road or a racetrack, where fade resistance is the remedy for myriad hard stops, it would likely outperform its forebear.

On public roads, the overall dynamics and feel of the G37 S are quite similar to that of the G35 S — well-balanced, easy to induce oversteer, taut ride — except, of course, that the G37 S feels a step quicker. Turn-in, thanks to the quicker ratio, feels sharper, and the aforementioned Akebonos deliver more progressive modulation, although during the figure-eight exercise, road-test editor Scott Mortara noticed more noise than he was expecting.

Ok, so then the "Sport package" is the "sport appearance package" that I see in some ads. Which is different than the "S" model. I thought I read somewhere also that the sport had a staggered wheel setup, where the rears were a little wider than the fronts. I'm assuming that was the "S".

I have seen an "S" badge on a sedan. I'm checking out one soonish, but it's auto.

Yeah. I've only personally seen one manual tranny sedan S. It did not have the big brake kit which is a costly upgrade.

There is a good reason for the confusion. There were two different S sedans. The sedan line up was Journey, X and S. You could get either the Journey or X with an "S" package which was different from the S model. The true S came with sport seats, 18" wheels including UHP summer tires and off set rims tire sizes, slightly heavier sway bars, bigger brakes as described above, faster steering ratio and a few other things. The Journey with the S package had the bigger wheels and brakes but not much else and the X with the S package still had the 17" wheels (a clearance issue with the all wheel drive perhaps?) I've got an 11 S sedan that I bought new, so trust me on this.
