how probe ECM connector?

Seems like this should be straight-forward, but I'm missing something

When the service manual says to check to voltage at an ECM connector pin, how does one practically do this? The connector on a Titan ECM proper isn't exactly amenable to back-probing, it is encased in a plastic shroud...

The only place that actually looks accessible is on a harness that sits in front of the IDPM ... is that is what the service manual is referring to?

Nissan ECM connector backshells aren't hard to remove, they just require a little finesse and a sharp pick tool. See this post:

Some of them look slightly different, but they all come apart pretty much the same way.
