Looks like mine needs a new one almost every 25000~30000 miles. Is that normal? The dealer told me I had to get a new one at around 33000 miles. Then when I went in for a service at around 46000 miles, they checked on the yellow box(there's green, yellow, and red box indicating condition of each component. At 33000, they checked on red).I wonder if it is normal to have your drive belt wear that fast.My previous cars, I didn't need it that soon.Just wanted to hear your opinions.thank you.

My car is 06 M45 sport

Mine was at 30K but it was due to age not miles; 5 years old and 30K miles so I went and did the belt. I "thought" these things went 50 to 60K but I'd like to hear from SteveTheTech or someone like that to confirm what they've seen...

Dealership just told me I need belts. i'll be at 4 years 45k mile next week. I'd like to be able to make it to 60k.

I have to inspect it my self to see if the width of the frays first.

pretty sad, $10 part (check http://www.google.com's shopping), and 1 - 1.5 hrs of billable labor.

Surely it is no different than other vehicles I have owned:

2 years 28K and I was surprised at how worn my looked when I checked it on the last oil change. On my last two cars I changed it with the timing belt; about every 8yr/80K.

Yes ... but many people (myself included) don't have the experience and the tools and the time to do it right.

Far safer to let a professional handy it.

I have the same problem. I bought my 07 in Aug and it had 10K miles on it. Just turned 30K this week and I need new belts now. As many miles as I put on my car I will need new belts every year. This is going to be expensive.
