I know it's normal on certain cars to have to top off the oil level once in awhile due to many factors, but I feel like every 6-8 weeks my car is requiring a quart or so to fill it back to the hi mark. It's always seemed to have been like this and I'm not sure whats normal for these v8s and what might indicate an issue. The car sees alot of city driving and its a very hot climate here in fla.

How many miles are driven approximately in those 6-8 weeks? That's more telling than time for oil consumption.

Thus far on my M37, 3,000 miles into OCI and it's 1-2mm lower than when I started.

I honestly have never checked the oil on my V8. I change it religiously at 5kmi. Checked it once or twice on my M35x and that thing was traded in at 142kmi with zero engine issues (I bought it with 32kmi).

So, never.

Do you see a leak on your driveway/garage?

No leaks and I'm not sure over the course of how many miles. I'm coming up on my first oil change since the recall work was done so I will start to track it's oil usage this time around. I wanna say the harder I drive it the more it uses but I've always been told v8 engines burn a little oil so haven't worried too much about it since the car runs excellent. I've had turbocharger seals wear out and that thing would lose a quart per day. When I get on it I do some smoke, nothing too crazy so I thought that it's ok but with 129k on it now maybe the rings are seein a little wear but I have no way to be certain. The only modification done to the drivetrain has been deleting the resonators on the exhaust and that's it.

Great topic. I just got my 56s on Aug 8th and I notice the same issues regarding oil being low. I also see when I get on it that it shoots a little smoke out the pipes. Car runs well so far. The maintenance oil warning popped on yesterday when my wife was coming home. I drove it to work this morning and thats when I saw the smoke when I would stomp it. There is no oil leak anywhere in my garage. It is scheduled to have the timing chains replaced on Monday so it will get fresh oil.

I've also noticed a little bit of smoke out the back when I go HAM. But it's not always or hard to see, usually can see it when someone is riding my rear end at night. My rear bumper has some soot on it. I never think much about it...just consider it 'horsepower sweat' lol.

Are you sure the smoke when you give it the beans is blue (oil) smoke and not white (water pooled in exhaust) or black (rich fuel mix)? I had the white smoke often after extended driving and then hammering it on another car that had an exhaust leak. It pooled water and then burned it all off when I floored it.

It's most likely black based on the bumper, which, yes, was stated to be 'normal' for the VK56DE but hard to tell because I only ever really notice it when there are lights behind me at night. I wasn't sure if it was due to A/F or just a by product of spitting out a combination of the two, but I'm not worried about it either way. I change my oil often enough that even if I am burning a little, it's marginal.

It's definitely not thick/blue like seeing an old Honda CRX trying to do highway speeds lol.

Recall!!!!! Lmao, nah I think that's just one of those little things that is pretty negligent for now but ill continue to monitor it and hope it doesn't become more noticeable. And the smoke I get is black so it's def an A/F thing I feel like, or just a function of the way the engine is designed. Who knows, could be the VVEL solenoids are a little off? :gotme
