I had the white smoke often after extended driving and then hammering it on another car that had an exhaust leak. It pooled water and then burned it all off when I floored it.
It's most likely black based on the bumper, which, yes, was stated to be 'normal' for the VK56DE but hard to tell because I only ever really notice it when there are lights behind me at night. I wasn't sure if it was due to A/F or just a by product of spitting out a combination of the two, but I'm not worried about it either way. I change my oil often enough that even if I am burning a little, it's marginal.
It's definitely not thick/blue like seeing an old Honda CRX trying to do highway speeds lol.
