it depends on how well your motor is. A buddy of mine told me that 8 lbs would be fine

get a knock light, wideband, and safc.make sure your a/f ratio stays ok and slowly keep raising boost. if the knock light comes on, you know where your limit is. my friend has a 98 with 35k on the stock ka. hes boosting at like 16psi fine and someone i talk to with a 92 wont go above 8psi. whereas this chick i know has a 91, turboed a dohc with like 165k miles on it and is happily driving around daily at 12psi, got it up to 14psi at the track.

it's all in how well condition the motor is in and how the compression is, how often the oil was changed, etc.

haha... >30PSI seem a "little" too extreme buddy...he's talking about reliable psi...and boosting that high on a stock block is just crazy.

The stock block would never handle 30psi without extreme amounts of methanol, an amazing tune, and then it would still probably only make it through one dyno run...Thats out of the usual Topmount T3 flanged turbo kit for a KA, the T25 is useless at 30lbs anyway, it turns into a hot air pump at anything above 18psi...

Use that SSAC turbo kit and you'll be lucky to even get a few miles on your car before blowing the engine without a proper way to control your fuel. SSAC makes HORRIBLE turbos, and I have heard my share of horror stories.

You guys also have to realize that not every turbo is the same. 4 psi on the T3/T4OE 50 trim and a/r or .64 nets me close to 180 or so at the wheels while the SR T25 at 10 psi only gave me about 200 or so.

Guys...different turbos flow different amounts of air. That should be common sense. What your internals can handle is based on the power output, and not so much how much boost you can run......

10 psi on a T25 is going to be miniscule compared to 10 psi on a T66.

It's all about having a good tune. You can adjust the afr all you want, but unless you retard timing accordingly as you up the boost, you will predetonate and get one giant KA paperweight.

A safe goal is around 350 rwhp on a stock block with a good tune.

I agree, that you must have ignition timing control, piggybacks like SAFC's and DTEC and E-manage and all those other fuel controllers are great, but without a way to retard your timing you'll blow your poor lil' KA up.

Jason Rhoades rebuilt, yet stock block KA makes 500hp from a GT3071R which will probably be close to 22 PSI.
