The title says is all, how much would you pay, or expect to pay, to have your intercooler pipes covered in carbon fiber. Seemless, appropiate for high heat applications.

Also, if there was a IC kit with a generic core (18x12x3 or something) and only CF pipes, do you think it would sell for as much, less, or more than say a greddy kit?

Please keep the "omg gay" comments to a minimum. thank you. I know there is no point to this other than appearance and 'weight' for the only CF, I think we can all acknowledge that now.

I would be conserned that the apoxy would soak up heat and hurt the cooling capability of the IC.

Price, I don't know. Not a whole lot, maybe $100.

sounds like a pretty intensive, costly procedure where costs do not outweigh the benefits. mind sharing how much it would actually cost though? unless you can find some new ricer drift n00b to sell it to, i doubt you could get MUCH more than a USED (which is what i assume you meant) greddy i/c & piping.

He doesn't want CF IC pipe, he wants his already aluminum pipes covered with CF. The only benifit would be looks-wise.

I don't want them, I am possibly going to make them.

I know the process and where to get all the stuff, I just simply have never done it.

From what I've been calculating on costs and time, the service would probably run $150-200. (For the wrapping.)

And there wouldn't really be any issue with heat retention or heat soak due to it...thats what your intercooler is for.

The only issue would be the area closest to the compressor, it may be neccisary to use a slightly longer than average silicone coupler since some CF can oxidize at higher temps...not sure if the hot air from a compressor would do that or not, but I would be more worried about latent heating from the compressor itself than the heat of the air.

As far as the purely CF pipes, they are harder to make for obvious reasons, it would be more difficult to replicate an existing set than to make a fresh set due to certain materials that can be used in creating the pipes. But I don't live in a popular place like so cal where I could go attend to every car to custom make the pipes, if people would even want it.

I would be worried that on the cool side on the IC, the epoxy would heat soak from under hood temps.
