Ok, I'm frustrated in my search for 240s cause a deal just fell through with a nice '95 SE. I know a guy (roomate's friend) selling his '95 base model, but its kinda beat up so I am wondering what would be a fair price if I decide to look into it... I need to get a car before June 15th, so I might still find another car.

Specs:'95 240sx 5spd base modelDark Blue (love the color)Moonroofalloy hubs (missing one complete hubcap)120,000 miles

I test drove it, engine sounds great, shifts very smooth, interior in great shape minus new shift boot. He just replaced the brake pads and changed fluids since he has had it. No mechanical problems ever. The only problem with the thing (besides being a base model) is the exterior is pretty beat up. There are 2 significant (1.5"x3.5") spots on the roof where the paint has completely faded away. Also, there is a little ding (but noticeable) in the hood and some little ones on the front bumper. Also, on the passenger side he scraped against something up front so there is an indented line/dent for about 5" on the front quarter panel. The paint is fine everywhere but the roof and that dent/line (where the paint is gone from the thin line).

What would be a fair offer for this car? The top paint fade is pretty bad and its missing a hubcap, but the car is superb mechanically. I am just trying to determine if its worth it to buy this over a s13, because I simply can not find a '95-96 SE 5spd in my price range lately. I might buy this if June rolls around and I am still car-less:( It would make for a very good beater...

I'm with you--I paid around 3k last year for my S13, but it was (and still is) in awesome shape with low miles for being a 10yr old car.

isn't Bubba's a '90? I don't want a SOHC... Plus, I found 2 '91s in LA for $2000 or less, I don't really want to go to LA though...

BTW, thanks for the input guys, keep it coming. I doubt $3000 will buy it considering how it is an s14, not and s13, but I was thinking somewhere close to $4000. Still open to more opinions though ;)

It is indeed. However, Bubba is on the other side of the country and I've heard importing a car into Kalifornia is pretty difficult.

I'd go $3k w/o seeing it. Sounds like a good base for a project.

not sure about cali, but over here (MA) I'd be HAPPY to pay like $3000-$3500 for it.

id have to agree with the 3k-3500 range. nice cars they are but a base beat up is siply not gonna bring what a nice one will. and i wouldnt pay over 5500 for a perfect one.

I'd offer him 3,000 and see if he takes it, if not go up to 3500 and start talking like thats the most you can afford...maybe he'd give in :) but I wouldnt pay much over 35-3700 for it.
