I have 91 240sx.Iam thinking of either getting a rebuilt Ka24de or an sr20det redtop. here is the redtop iam looking at right nowhttp://www.osakajdmmotors.com/intronissan.htm(second one down)what other necessary things do i need to get with it to complete swap and get the car moving?my other option was a rebuilt KA which ofcourse will be better money wise since iw ill have everything from my old KA. i need opinions please. the labor for swapping itself will cost me around 700. i will have about 3500 not counting that 700. you think that will be good enough?. i have also seen afront clip blacktop for 2500 on ebay.and yes i did my research . i just need your opinions, my first option ofcourse is sr20, but if it will cost more than 4k to swap then forget it.thanksMB

My blacktop was 2350 which included greddy intake mani, nismo flywheel, nismo clutch

and all the BPU stuff (Greddy FMIC, intake, downpipe, test pipe, exhaust, Greddy Profec-B BC), KOYO radiator, TurboXS RFL BOV, fan, fan controller, new head gasket, new engine mounts, spark plugs, coolant, transmission oil, engine oil, diff oil.

thats running close to 5000 and if you want to change water pump, oil pump, thermostat it will cost more...

Don't take this the wrong way, but...

If you really did your research then you'd know the answer to this question already.

DownpipeIntake FilterFluids / Oil

All you need for an SR swap to run.

i see. thanks for the help. i also saw some rebuilt KA's for around 2700-4000. they are more reliable ofcourse. its a hard decision to tell you the truth. but i think iam going more into the rebuilt KA's. i can always turbo them later on.. but i stopped on one thing. i don't know if its true or not i really don't nkow much about engines iam still learning

"We highly recommend a used engine for this application! Read below why...Some manufacturers built their engines utilizing a very thin material that doesn't allow any additional machining and grinding. What does it mean to you? Your best replacement option for this type of engines is a used engine" this is from http://www.wiegand-liners.com/used-engine.htmli tried looking for a rebuilt on their website and they linked me with that page. they also continued by "You can probably find some remanufacturers that rebuild these engines but these rebuilt engines will not last long and doomed to fail"

first off.... it takes like 6 hours to do a swap and if you're even slightly smarter then a Chimp you can do it yourself... I say get a completely rebuilt KA with forged pistons and rods then you can always boost her later and make mad HP go look at some of the Ka-T guys who are making 630WHP... I say KA

6 hours to do the swap? I dont know man... I dont know if you can really do it that fast and do it right... You always run into unexpected probs and it should take atleast a day to do it... Just to pull the engine out and pull the harness out (what a biatch) it took me atleast a day and a half of combined work time.

talk to pulsar gtr for the motor. if you want a realiable boosted motor, get an sr. sounds like you are still new to motor swaps, so why go with rebuilding an engine?? btw, i drive 2.5hrs regularly to visit my family and friends back home. put about 20k+ mi on the motor and it still has 159 compression on all 4 cyl. stock SR with smic,3" turbo back exhaust at 11psi. i drift, drag, and autox.

you can do a SR swap in 6 hrs if you don't change any of the seals, clutch, and other small maintenances and without a motor in the car. why do it so quick is my question. spend the time and change the rear main seal, clutch, thermostat, etc. so you don't have to do that **** later. changing that clutch, exhaust mani gasket, intake manifold gasket, is a ***** when the motor is in the car.
