I've finally decided to change my fluids. I'm looking at the automatic transmission fluid in the owners manual at it says 9 quarts, but I was also looking at this guide here on NICO and it says you'll need 6 quarts https://www.nicoclub.com/archives/how-t ... r-qx4.html.
I guess I'm missing something here, and would appreciate any help.

Nine is total capacity, but there are always 3~5 quarts left inside the torque converter and valve body on any transmission. It isn't like an oil change where everything comes out. Infiniti doesn't give a figure for drain-fill, but 5~6 sounds about right.

I've completed two drain and fills over the past two weeks in my 2001 Pathfinder and each time nearly 6 quarts came out. A little over 5.5q after about 30 mins drain time.

I'll be doing this soon. If it holds 9 qts and I can get 6 qts out, that is 2/3 replaced. Then drive it a couple hundred miles and get another 6 qts of the mix out, that would be equal to 1 qt left in, or about 85% changed out. I think that should be enough.
