Headed outside to remove pan bolt and refill--then run two minutes...and so on...how much do I refill each time...I've looked in the mini manual and can't find a thing

It's in the FSM. But you won't get a lot out on a drain. Maybe 7 qts. over a few days. I don't know as it is a waste of time. Find someone with the Sun or BG machine.

first, properly check the trans fluid level on the dipstick per manual.adjust if needed.drain fluid into a pan, measure the amount drained, and refill with same amount-measure and refill each drain cycle you do-amount per drain will vary with drain time-aprox 2.5-3qt with a 30-45 minute drain time.

Not sure where the discrepancy comes from. I've never gotten less than 5 quarts on 3 different Qs in a hour's time. Let us know how much you remove when you do it. Note that the drain and run for 2 minutes method may not give better results than having the fluid fully mixed between changes. It all depends on the volumetric flow and how much you get out of the pan. Given the uncertainty, I'd much rather measure what I remove and have a homogenous batch before the 2nd drain.

Discoloration of fluid is indicative of wear and hence the amount of life left of the internal components. The white paper towel test tells more for less effort than almost anything else about the condition of the car and the maintenance habits of the previous owners.
