The dealer will not only rip you off, they will probably make you buy a "manual" engine block as well. Because God forbid doing a manual swap to a car that was not intended that way in the first place! They will charge you to replace the ECU, complete auto -> manual wiring harnesses, all the mechanical parts, labor up the wahzoo, etc. I know this because I had a Nissan dealer check the brakes on my car, then do a full car inspection. The Service Manager freaked out because the car was a 1997 240SX SE Auto with a manual transmission still retaining the auto ECU + wiring. The Service guys were trying to convince me to pay them $2500 bucks to replace all the automatic electronics with manual stuff. I told them to "F" off because everything in the car worked fine and they were idiots. Long story short it would be cheaper to source all the parts yourself and then pay a knowledgeable shop to do it for you.

Switch from a "KA auto to KA manual" OR "KA auto to SR manual?"

Do remember that the dealer will not switch a KA to an SR manual, nor is a KA transmission compatible with the SR without swapping bellhousings. If you plan on doing a swap to an SR, then dont spend money on a KA manual swap.

And yes the dealer will probably want a few thousand for a manual swap, while doing it yourself could be as low as $200-300 USD.
