I'm about to start a project and I was wondering, what is the highest I should pay for a swap?I'm looking at either a sr20det front clip, a rb20det front clip, a rb25det front clip, or maybe a rb26dett front clip (big maybe).how much should the swap (after I buy the engine) cost? just for them to install it...thanks a lot-Ty

In the far right corner of this page is a button that says search. It holds the key to your question. You will get no respect or answers if you are not willing to do a little searching first.

WTF is wrong with you guys? In the three seconds it took you to flame him, you could have said:

For a stock swap done professionally

sr20det costs 4500ishrb20det costs 3000ishrb25det costs 6500ishrb26det costs >10000

if you do it yourself those prices fall off significantly, except maybe for the rb26

WTF is wrong with you? Where are you gettting those numbers from? You cant really have a "standard" price for these kind of things---too many variables. Engine price, parts replacement/upgrade price, what he want to do with an engine. The fool doesnt even know what he wants yet. He just know that he want a JDM engine swap.

Where are you getting these prices? Do you personally seek out and average the prices for every shop in the US? Or are you just being an ignorant anus and posting something you think is usefull, because you don't want to be seen giving the typical response we all give to RETARDED nOOb questions like this??

Or wait, you're probably just new to the scene yourself, totally oblivious to your own nOOb thoughts that infiltrate your own head. By the way, the RB26 has two T's at the end.

y3llows14 is right, he only seems to know that he wants a JDM engine swap. You don't have to be a veteran of any car forum to see straight through stupid ****ing questions like this. THERE ARE TOO MANY VARIABLES TO ANSWER THIS.

My advice to the original thread starter:

Go to google.com and get the specs of each engine you are considering. You probably don't even have a clue about any of them. Visit some aussie skyline forums and talk to people who drive cars with these engines on a daily basis, see what they'd recommend. This is a HYBRID forum, where everyone has something different or has done something different to their own vehicle. YOU WILL FIND NO REAL ANSWERS HERE, ONLY ENOUGH INFORMATION TO PUT IDEAS INTO YOUR HEAD!

How much does this cost? What engine should I get?I haven't started my project yet, should I get an S14 or an S13?How much to install it?Where do I find an engine from?Havth U sheen my basheball?

what? how the hell do you get those figures? they could vary DRASTICALLY from shop to shop, area to area.

LMAO..

I think that my response was one of the nicest use the search button responses I have seen so far. Telling someone that a swap cost X amount is worse than telling them to search and find out themselves. By giving someone a price you are setting them up for heart ache. I guarantee you that everyone here spent more money than they thought they would, and the people that didn't were the ones who were smart enough to do there research. We are not trying to be *******, we are trying to help people help themselves.

What is the saying? you can give some one a fish and feed them for one day, or teach them how to fish and feed them for a lifetime.

Meh... there's a shop in Indy that does rb25 swaps for a little over 4k. That's where I'm going.

wtf is that....i rather tell him to use the fkng search button (because there are a million noob asking the same freaking question....) than hearing you blab your mouth about false information. don't you get it. go research for your own question. don't give information out of your 4ss.

Did you guys not notice the -ish after all of my figures? I was giving him estimates. I did not specify any price to any significant figure. I based my estimates off of what I've seen people pay on this forum by lurking/posting here, as well as on other forums and sites.

I'd rather give him a generally correct estimate to go from based on past prices than be a d*ck to him like you guys are doing. You're telling me about assumptions? Look what your friend y3llows14 said

Quote »Just bring it to me, Ill do it for free----since everything in this world is free and spoon fed to you [/quote]He has no idea what this kid's like, for all he knows he may have worked hard for the resources he's putting towards his swap.

Don't you get faux-righteous on me, telling me about assumptions. A little kindness is all he needs as a newcomer, rather than chasing him off with ungrounded insults. And I am by no means a newbie...i lurk to learn where i can and post to help where i can.

Oh, and Nameless EJ6... don't tell me how long i've been in the scene. I've grown up around the culture and have been into cars well before my teenage years. Im currently going to one of the best engineering schools in the nation, building SAE Formula cars in my spare time. I've designed and conducted FEAs on tubular spaceframes for cars, i've set up engine dynos in the basement of university buildings. I've wired up a working engine harness in under two nights. Hell, i've helped design fuel maps for honda CBR engines from scratch--on an programmable ECU meant to be run on a car. Things I leave in the toilet probably know more than you about cars, and smell nicer as well. Leaving a f*cking "T" off at the end of an engine code is no basis for how much I know. Or, you could just come to SAE World Congres in Detroit in May and let car #51's performance do the talking.

HA HA HA HA ....

This has to be one of the funniest threads ever! Sticky it!

AmoebAssassin.... "Things I leave in the toilet probably know more than you about cars, and smell nicer as well." That was funny as hell!

pretty damn funny, but won't earn you an ounce of respect if you have to brag about yourself. I am not questioning your car knowledge... I am sure you konw a hell of a lot more than a noob like me, but if you are such a car genious, please bring some facts, write-ups, and research and pitch in to the cumulative knowledge of the RB forums.

Bye the way... I agree that your post was the best way to reply to his very general question. He asked a very simple question, and got a very simple answer... If he wants more detail, he can ask a more detailed question... and using the search button wouldn't hurt him either.
