I was having a good day on Tuesday. Sun was out, temperature was perfect. I opened the garage door and started to blueprint my motor. I blueprinted 2 cylinders, got a little bored, and decided to giv my car a little wash. Mainly just clean the wheels, they looked gross. The car was already backed into the driveway, so I just took a bucket of soap/water out there and went to town. When I finished, I was satisfied. I put all the tools away, and my girlfriend came over for lunch.

After lunch, we were just chilling, and I hear something loud. They were doing some landscaping in the park across the street so I figured it was that...and then my car alarm goes off. My girlfriend immediatley looks out the window and sees a big a** '94 F150 backing up off the front of my car. I was outside in an instant.

I asked the dude if he was okay, because come on, something has to be wrong if you crash into a car thats IN someone's driveway. He gave me his insurance info while I stood there and fought every urge to react the way I usually would to this situation. Turns out the guy lives down the street. "Mannn I know you guys, I see you out here all the time working on your car" Oh, so you decided to crash into it.

The two bricks on the ground are where my front tire used to be, they were there to prevent it from rolling forward.

Seriously though, WHAT THE FLYING f***. You think you can park your car in the driveway and no one will run into it. APPARENTLY NOT. He said he was trying to make a u-turn so he pulled into my driveway and didn't see my car. WHAT? HOW in the HELL do you not see a red car with a big a** boat behind it? He didn't even touch the brakes.

I'm fairly certain they will total it, my rad support is messed up where the headlight assembly bolts on. I'm really hoping they dont, but I'm pretty sure they will. Which SUCKS, because I really don't want to get rid of this car. I don't care about having a salvage title because I never planned to sell it, but I don't want to be in a position where if its totaled and I buy it back, I'm left with not enough money to fix the damage.

I hate people.

Seriously man..... If they don't total it, which I realize is very unlikely, I will be very happy.

For my old coupe when totaled it was only like $300 to buy it back, they gave me $2700 and the car back (vs $3k without the car). But that was '04. Still should get enough to fix it even after buying it back.

I'm really hoping for something similar. However, the last time someone hit it, they valued it at $2000. Around how much does it cost to get a rad support welded in?

Dam son thats f***ing retarded. You have had that car forever. He wasnt looking, thats all. But how you dont see that before you make a uturn to check if anything is in the way is beyond me. Its stupid that that little damage can technically total the car.

Mine was much worse. I destroyed my rad support, both headlights, and hood. The thought of salvage never came up but cost a good $1300 to fix it all myself. Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if it was totalled.

Man that blows. I really liked your vert. I had been lurking in the convertible section and read your build. You have had a bad run lately, with that woman hitting you in the parking lot as well. I hope for the best.

TELL ME ABOUT IT. I can only assume that something great is going to come of this.

Called the insurance company twice this week. They said they've called the guy 3 times and no answer. If I don't get a callback from them by friday I might have to show up on his doorstep.

Didn't flip on him there. It took a lot of effort on my part to not beat his face in.

Thats what I get for trying to be a reasonable neighbor right? I've got the photos and two witnesses, so I think I should be okay. I HOPE.

Yup, lesson learned. I'd rather look like a d!ck than get screwed.

Update: Insurance called back today. They finally talked to the policy holder who, thankfully, didn't do anything sketchy. Doesn't seem like they're going to total it. They told me to take it to a shop and get it fixed and send them the bill. So, as of right now, everything seems like gravy. :)

AWESOME. Get some top notch work done... but see if you can get what they said in writing, or at least record what they said.

Yup, the shop I'm going to is in their network. And surprisingly enough, I know the guy. Our autoshop used to be right next to his body shop.

Dude, you have no idea. I love this car, hahah.

YUP. If I've learned anything from this, its to ALWAYS cover your a**. No matter who you're dealing with. The guy I'm going to take it to does some epic work. A lot of car enthusiasts go to him for body work. While its there I'm going to go ahead and have him fix the damage in the rear as well (from the lady that ran into it earlier this year....) So basically the whole car is going to be fresh :) That is, if all goes as planned.
