How much should front struts cost...

Hey i have a 93 Infiniti J30,i just bought the car and we got it without any front struts.So i went and took it to a garage,he said originally about $500,which i thought was very high.Im not dumb,i know struts should take a 1/2 hour to put in.So i went around and asked three other people,they all said it was high and they could do it for under $400.so today i bring the car to the original garage (the one who said about $500) and he called back and said the struts are discontinued and he had to order them directly.And guess what his new price was,he said over $1000.how much should i be paying?Please help.Greg T

You bought it without shocks?? - not sure exactly how everything bolted together... and how you could drive it...

I'd ask for an itemized list of what they're replacing... then check with Joe at Infiniti of Scottsdale for a parts price.
