Yesterday I started working on my AC. (redtop SR20DET RWD with SR compressor)

I put in two small 8oz cans of pag42 oil/refrigerant. And the compressor kicked on normally.

then I followed with a 13oz can of 134a refrigerant. Low side was in the 30-40psi range with the compressor running.

Started on the 2nd 13oz can of refrigerant and now the compressor cycles on and off like a slow clock tick tock tick tock tick tock....

I got the compressor from a buddy of mine, He claimed it did the same thing (the compressor clicking on and off). He said the fix was to just apply 12v via a switch and it would run. I've done this in the past when the low pressure switch went out on another car just to get me through the week.

So please let me know what you think and if you had the same problems.... What did you do to fix it?????

Thanks,Rich

resolved..... I found this out on the net

134a

19-39 low psi 33-60 evaporator F 140-235 high psi 80-90 ambient F-----------------------25-43 psi low 40-65 evap F 165-270 psi high 90-100 F ambient

I'm now set at 41psi low and 270psi high....

the clicking on and off of the compressor was from an overcharge...

I was sitting at 65low and 360 high.

Here is some more info:http://www.sadik.net/nissan/howto/ac_r12.htm

They show 32oz of R12 which means about 27oz. of R134a. So one small can of ester oil or pag42 oil followed by almost two hole 13oz cans of 134a.

My system still has too much coolant in it. So I'm gonna vaccum down tomorrow and refill as per this article.
