I know some of you guys are running high HP VH's just curious if you are running a stock pump. If not what power level did it need to be replaced?

Thanks!

First, it's a 3 stage pump, so tough to replace and retain function for the street.

Read Q45tech' old posts. I think the margin is about 30%.

Thanks for the tip.

I'm not sure I understand why replaceing the fuel pump with a single rate pump would effect driveability on the street? You could even retain the FPECU and replace with a high flowing unit. Although, with a proper return system I'm not sure why you would want to keep the OEM FPECU.

I'll keep reading on the subject :)

As far as HP is concerned, you're saying roughly 400whp is the limit?

I would say safely. Remember you cannot use up all that 30% margin. The three stage is necessary for idle and cruise besides WOT/start up.

Search and read all of Q45tech's posts. I believe InfinitiGuy has a link to them in google docs. Many will be in General Chat as they were in Infiniti General in the beginning..

I guess I should have specified in my reply, that I will not be using the pump in conjunction with the VH, rather a 2JZ. If I'm not mistaken, they have a single rate pump from the factory. So, bypassing the FPECU may be just as well.

I will def do some more research on the older posts! Thanks Again!

I would certainly match my fuel pump to the engine. Unless your existing pump is new or nearly new, I don't think you'd be saving much by keeping it and running it on high...

Yea, I'm thinking it should be replaced anyway just based on HP figures. We plan on making ~450-500WHP with it, so the stock pump probably won't cut it.

Car should be running in about a week!!

2Jz is a whole 'nother deal. Gotta love cast iron blocks.

Might want to peruse Sijokos posts before you go down that route.

The stock Q pump is the same as Z32 TT so whatever HP they are running you should be good.. I would say its good for at least 600HP, but I don't remember off hand.

Oh! Well that is good news then.. haha

I knew the Z32TT was a 3 stage pump too.. should have put two and two together... haha Well, now I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it doesn't crap out.
