I just have a quick question as the title says how much HP can the STOCK crank handle? The reason I'm asking is because i am rebuilding my engine but i want a forged crank but i can not even find a Stock forged. All i can find are the stroker kits. I don't want to do that. Also anytime i find a crank not in a kit its $3,000 is that the normal going price? Im doing a performance build not an OEM build here is the parts list:

ACT Flywheel Cower Connecting Rods ACL Main Bearings ACL Rod Bearings Tomei Forged Piston 86.5mmISIS Oil Pan Kit

Thank you for any help.

What kind of power figures are you looking for? I cant see you needing a forged crank until 600-700+ hp... if that. The crank is not a weak point for the SR.

Mazworx runs a polished and balanced stock crank in his 1000whp S14. You dont need a forged one.

a friend of mine was some what in the same situation as you he didnt want to stroke his S2k so what he ended up doing is sourcing a stock crank and 'cryo freezing the crank" i cant remember the name of the company that does it but you should look in to it its not expensive i think they only charged my buddy like 275 for the dip

I've seen over 600 on a stock crank so I don't think you need to worry about it. 400-600 is a HUGE range of power, and requires vastly different parts as well as budget to get you there. What are you actually planning to do with the car?

On the Mazworx site they say the stock crank has been proven to 1400 hp. There is absolutely no need in considering replacing it unless it is damaged or something.

Isn't the stock crank already forged?

Uh Huh Pretty much all of them are these days. Only reason to get a different one is to change stroke or radical lightening.
