How much power can I expect the CA18DET on stock internals to be reliable as a daily?

So, since I wasn't getting the answers that I wanted from my other thread I've decided to make this thread.

Off other forums, I've found out that I probally want around 330rwhp with a quick spooling and a redline of like 8500 rpm to accomplish my goals of a low 12 second street car (on top of the obvious, tuning, intake, downpipe, FMIC, exhaust etc etc) that will still be a threat in autox.

So I've set about 330rwhp as my goal.

Now, my question is, since the other places I've checked arn't too knowledgeable on the CA18 and they suggested I come here...but when I did, I got "go buy a GTR" as responses...which is not what I wanted.

So I'm thinking of maybe a HKS GT2535 Turbo or maybe a turbo around this size would be enough...but I'm not too sure...I've been looking at as small as a turbo I can go so I can have a quick spool up (I have a 2003 Spec V, and it's got quite a bit of low end grunt, I'm looking for something with some grunt, but not so much however...)

As well anyone know any good sites on learning on turbochargers? I'm not too sure what alot of the nubmers mean like T25, T28, A/R etc...(I have about a year to learn!) so teach :)

But I'm wondering, on the CA18DET, would 330-350rwhp @8500 rpm redline make a good daily driver, would it be reliable?

Mods and tuning is the key here, not the motor which is capable of more power than what you mentioned in stock form.

I was saying that you could go faster, cheaper in a GTR. AWD owns the luanch. Any way with my setup going in HKS FMIC, HKS 2540 turbo, HKS ful ex. system, etc I plan on making about 350 wheel or so. Also if your looking for low end, Buy a SR car. The CA is a small rev happy motor and you cant have it all but with BB turbos you can come close. So in closing I think you should buy the CA powerd silvia on ebay since its alreadey in floppy head country or will be there soon. Its well modded and readey to go. I can tell you about older T3/T4 setups but not alot about newer GT stuff. The Disco potatoe turbo that they used on the SCC car might be what you looking for.

Yea the GTR costs 2X first of all, so that's already 7-9Gs more than 180SX, I only want to hit low 12s, THAT's it, anything beyond that I need a roll cage on the strip.

Low 12s requires something like 450wrhp according to nick wong, and nick of rbmotoring. That requires new TURBOS, new everything, which costs more than upgrading the CA.

So yea :) For my goal the 180SX is the cheapest route to go.

The 2540 Turbo has too much lag for my liking, according to RBmotoring the 2535 is the best way to go if you don't want anymore than 400 whp.

Nick wong and the RBmotoring dude is part of a small forum I'm part of, I don't even think it has 100 members yet :)
