don't quote me on this, but i think i remember reading that the S14 had a transmission rated to 300-400 horsepower.

this was in the context of a magazine article that said that the rest of the s14 chassis was great, except the damn truck engine they slapped in. commented that the car was ready for a much stronger engine, but just didn't get one... (wish i could find $ for turbo...)

300-400hp out of an auto...no way.

Maybe mid-200s, but I bet it'll die pretty quick with not too much more TQ going through it. It is a beefy auto trans and torque converter, but not built to withstand 100rwhp over stock.

any transmission will take more punishment with a shift kit put in.not the factory crap. but a real, crisp one.

I'll weigh in on this! I have towed 3000lb-4000lbs (uhaul trailer+ crap) behind a '95 240 auto w/o a transmission cooler from kcmo to orlando fla. and back to kcmo in sept of 2001. Try a manual valve body, if they make it for the 240

WD racing has said in the past that the DE transmissions share the same internals as the rb20det skyline, on his auto skyline with a transmission cooler he had 400hp, the transmission would hold it, shifting with the stock valve body and tq converter was sloppy but the transmission held it.

structure240sx had his car boosted auto before he swapped a 5spd in there.

and in about 6 weeks ill be a nother boosted ka auto.

another s14 on ebay was putting 350-380 on an auto transmission too. I don't know if he had a custom torque converter or what...but it was holding fine.

ok this may seem unrealistic but it is true. the amount of hp you can run on a auto depends greatly what its use is and how you drive it. one of the main keys is dont beat on it from a stop. we ran 850 hp threw a stock dodge auto transmission with a stage 2 converter. never the less it took it well and didnt slip. but this is also not for street use and still is highly un safe. if you ever try it use a blanket

I want to resurrect this thread...What auto transmission could I put in S13 and how much will it hold? Aiming to have 300whp for drag strip and want auto box.

just take care of it...rear main seal, dont switch to fully sinthetic: it will make things worse, either new oem or nice used aftermarket tq converter, and clean and re used all main parts. put it all back together and you might get 250-300 and live to tell about it till you can afford a real auto...but by then youll have a mercedes or a bmw.
