How much of a speed difference from a manual vs auto?

I am lookign for a 240 in my area and found 2 in the local paper. Both seem to be good deals but one is definitely a auto and the other doesnt say but im guessing its a auto also. I want a 5 speed but finding one is gonna be harder and these 2 are good deals.In some cars the difference between a auto and a manual is that much and i was wondering how much it is on a 240? Im talking in terms of 1/4th time and acceleration. Do u think i should look for a manual,juss stick with the auto or but the auto and try for a 5 speed swap?

I'd look for a manual just because you'll be pissed once you get the car and have an auto. Stick is just more fun to drive. Period.

Dont settle. Beyond the point that its simply funner to drive (in some places...It can suck in LA sometimes), there is a definite difference in speed. I know my Brother driven his S13 for years as well as my S14, plus his X-Girls Auto S14 and he just does not enjoy that S14 much. Its still sporty, but you wont get close to the same amount of fun out of auto. The only auto I have repect for anyways is the one on the Mini-Cooper, I hear its just as effecient as a good driver on a stick.

yea definetly get stick, if you don't then you'll regret it later.

depends what you want, if it's strictly a daily driver get auto, if you will mod it get manual
