How much of a difference will Cams make

Ok. I feel like this post is sounding like a lot of others I see. But here we go.

I got the standard goodies. Redtop, T2871r, FMIC, 550cc injectors, AEM EMS, etc. I have been talking to some folks that Zerolift and others that are either in the process of upgrading or have already upgraded and they all suggest cams.

Now the question is (surprised right), how much of a difference will 256 or 264 duration cams make in power production? And what effect will they have on drivability? I mean the guys at Zerolift are saying that I'll have a monster once it's complete and I'm not debating that. It's just, I want to make sure I can go to the track and get it on and turn around and drive to work the next day.

A lot, cams usually make a big difference. I say do it. Those cams will be fine for daily driving and should be a pretty good match for you setup. I belief you can run those with the stock vaulesprings, retainers, etc. you'll be OK with them. No doubt.

ya ive never upgraded camshafts on my engine before but from what ive heard they make a wonderful difference and they will be fine for daily driving..you might however want to look into a set of RAS to go along with your cams...sort of an insurance thing

I run HKS 264 Step 1 Cams and theres no drivability problems whatsoever. Has a lumpy idle making the car sound awesome. Power comes on hard at 4k rpm and keeps on pulling to 7k-7500rpm. If your using the GT2871R like I am, I would recommend going with HKS 264 Step 2 cams for the higher lift. They will give a little more top end over the Step 1s. They also require upgrading the valve springs. The Step 1's and 2's are both awesome compared to stock.

Cool. I was a little worried about drivability, but I guess they will be on my order now. Thanks guys. Hopefully, I will have some pix in the near future of the install process. The guys at Zerolift said that they would take pix of the install process from start to finish, so I can see what they are doing. Thanks again guys.

ya bro cams are a great upgrade lots of guys on here have them nobody has daily driving problems..let us know when you get them let us know about the install and how it went and the difference in power..good luck
