How much would it cost to get 300 rwhp out of the CA??

Could you bolt on say a t3 and put a front mount on and not have to repleace the internals....how strong are stock CA internals?? (when compared to the KA)

A CA's stock internals can live all day at 300whp, but you got to spend some money on real supporting mods such upgraded ecu, injectors, turbocharger, fuel pump, etc, etc.

Ca18's have very limited stock parts that tend to max out even slightly over 200 whp. There's quite a few things you need to address with the stock motor if you want much more power at all... Once you have addressed these certain things however, the motor can really rip. The stock internals of CA's can and have been taken to 400 hp.

Here's what I would do

T3/T04E, or straight T04E, I dont mind lag much, so the average person would probably want something smaller and more streetable than that. Of course a GT series turbo such as the GT28RS would probably be ideal for a good powerband and 300hp, a moderatly sized t3, or t3/t04b will do just fine, and be more cost effective.

To address proper fueling, I would start with 440cc injectors (these might even be too small, not 100% sure). At least an SAFC to control your larger injectors, and if the computer you choose still uses a MAF, then a z32 or q45 is a must!

FMIC is a must! The stock sidemount intercooler heatsoaks even under stock power levels! lol.

Monitoring your coolant/Exhaust gas temps are important, as well as accurate boost reading, and oil pressure.. Invest in a good set of guages. Also, if you dont feel like going to the dyno every time you want to change a fuel map, pick up a wideband o2 sensor. They help immensly with tuning and making sure your engine is running the proper AF mixture for ideal power AND safety.

If I missed anything, or if I'm wrong.. feel free to correct or add to this. I'm speaking from experience with an RB20, I've just always had a strange liking for the CA18....lol, what am I doing in this forum anyways..

Good luck!

zerothread?id=202065My post in there is a good list to go by. As far as cost. It's really hard to say. With junkyard parts and doing work yourself, you might be able to get something together for $1500-$2000. To do it right, I'd expect to spend $3000-$3500.
