So it's been 3 years now and I still love this car to death even though it has its little quirks that ive gladly put up with over the years, nothing that annoying that would make me want to go through the whole process of finding a different ride, despite the fact I feel blessed to even be a proud owner of one these cars in the first place since theyre pretty scarce. I feel it'd be a frustrating task to just go out and find another one that I like with every single option available at the time but for whatever reason every few years I get the itch to swap out my dd so I start looking for anything that might be a possible candidate to replace it with. That is, something else in my price range under $25k. Also I kinda look around at what i think will be in my price range in a year or two, and also hope to be in a better position to get a gtr which I think is my dream car at this point, but I'm content with owning the 2nd baddest car Nissan's got in they're fleet imo until that day comes lol.
So next comes the option of keeping it for awhile, maybe even a really long time, unfortunately I get sentimental over cars easily I guess that's why I have a little bit of a problem right now I need a four car garage lol. The other ones I just couldn't let go and have had for a long time are an 1987 Buick grand national that I've had for 20 years, and a 1991 Mitsubishi eclipse gsx which only has 47k original miles! I'm the only other owner beside the original owner who was 65years old when he purchased it new lol!
Anyways with 150k miles on it now,how long do you think I should expect it to last? I change the oil myself every 3k miles. Ive owned it since 90k miles and before me it was a fleet car since new so I have no idea about the cast of characters that might have had their fun with it before me. I know its as good as anybody's guess but if that day comes where I'm gonna need to shell out $6k for an engine I'm probably gonna get rid of the car. Should i cash in my fleet and get the gtr now lol? Lifes short ya know. What's the most ridiculous amount of miles anybody's seen on one with the original engine/transmission? I sometimes feel like I'm driving a ticking time bomb though because I drive it like it's supposed to be driven. Just figured that Japanese reliability is the number one reason I bought it in the first place ;)

Is this a serious question? It's just like any other engine, depends on maintenence, how you treat it and a little bit of luck. Most decent engines will go several hundred thousand if not more than half a mil as long as it's taken care of. The transmission my be another story but you are also comparing to a gtr, so apples and oranges.

This will run to 250-300k if you maintain it (not just oil but coolant, diff fluid, plugs, filters, etc.). The body will likely deteriorate before the drivetrain...Nissan's (especially the VQ motor but the VK aint' bad) make strong motors. The VQ30 and VQ35 were rated top 10 motor for like 20 years or something crazy lol.

It also depends upon where you live. Is it in terrible heat like mine in Texas? Is it in the northeast with all the wintery salt on the roads? Conditions and how you drive it will impact it. But I would expect it to last. I drove the 3.5 in an FX35 for 9 years... 185K and it was purring like a kitten when i traded it. In fact, that car never had a single issue. I think it had a seal leaking once and cost me about $300 total to get it fixed. If my neighbors Dodge Ram has $450K on it with original engine and transmission right now, these should be ok.
