"How much knock is safe"? sounds similar to "how long can I stare at the sun"? You should investigate to see if the engine is actually knocking or if the unit is actually picking up valvetrain noise. Check your plugs for signs and if it is knocking correct the situation immediately.

Do not use the knock reading on the safc for ANYTHING.

depends on how long the car has been running for me. the longer ive been driving the higher it is. temp. dependent too, i see upwards of 35 on a hot day with normal driving. it never knocks, and the one time it did the safc didnt notice it.

just listen to the car, if it sounds like you are getting pre-ignition then make her a bit richer. i just went around dogging it and messing with the safc until it didnt sound like it was detting anymore.

Giallo, quick offtop question, are those just stock tails with some black film over them?

zerothread/227005last post... he seems to have found some use for SAFC knock meterAn asset if it'll work. Too bad we can't datalog 'knock' like a DSM and compare to a safc, to get an idea of the thresholds... I'm wondering if they(DSMs) ever did.
