There are alot of things to think about when buying a "race car"What class is it prepped to?Can you afford to race that class?Do you have the skill to race that particular car in that class?how many times has it been crashed and rebuilt? How bad has it been crashed?can you afford to push it off of a cliff tomorrow (both financially and emotionally)?
I don't think you would want to make that car streetable. It would take alot more than an exhaust and some glass.
How much are those shocks worth? How often do they need to be rebuilt, how long will they last on a non-racetrack type surface?
How long will it take to rip that front splitter off?
Brake pads? ever driven race pads on the street? they can be dangerous as hell depending on what their temp range is.
Are your bones harder than a roll cage? if not, then I wouldn't run a full cage on the street, unless you always wear a helmet.
Six point harness are a pain in the ***, and If you have them on right, you can't move. If mine is on and tight and my car door is open too far, I have to have some one shut it for me.
They are loud, hot and uncomfortable.
How often does the motor need to be rebuilt, what type of fuel does it take, and who much is it?
I assume you would put street tires on it. Race tires wouldn't last, unless you just took them out to scrub them in or heat cycle them.
There are a lot of things to consider when buying a "race car" these are just a few. I am sure there is a lot of other things I forgot.
If you can't afford to actually race, you could always autoX it. You would probably want to tow it to and frow, but you wouldn't have too. The other thing you should consider, if you REALLY want to drive a race car; go to a race school. (FYI, I would stay away from anything that has the word "experience" in it. Petty for example. You want a SCHOOL. "Experience" "schools" typically don't teach you anything.

You could also run it at PDX's/PDE's. SCCA as well as other sanctioning bodies/car clubs puts these on around the country. Porsche, Audi, BMW, Viper, etc, etc do them. And you usually don't have to have that make car, just give them your money.
Also resale value on these types of cars SUCK and they are HARD to get rid of usually.
Hope this helps in your decision, I would do A LOT of research before I bought anything like it. Also if you do deiced to buy it, find a good honest race shop that knows this class car, or find a good SCCA/NASA/Other racing bodie tech inspector to go over the thing with a fine tooth comb to make sure everything is there, proper, and legal for what ever class it is that it is built for.
