I’m the original owner of a 1998 Nissan 240SX SE in Great Condition with only ~79k miles which I must soon sell to make way for a family-friendly vehicle.

The car is black and features 5-speed Manual Transmission, AM/FM/CD/SAT Audio System with Steering Wheel Audio Controls, AC, 16" Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control, Power Locks/Mirrors/Sunroof, and Driver/Passenger Airbags. Based solely on what I've been told it has a different front end.

Does anybody out there have any idea how much the car is worth nowadays so I can list it at a fair price? Any recommendations for the best venue to sell a car like that? Ebay? Craigslist?

Thanks All!

Take some pics of your car. See how much the value is in the Blue book. Mint, Usual wear, garbage condition.

this depends alot on where you are, as 240s go for a hell of a lot more in some areas than others

you have an s14 body style, kouki specifically (97-98), which has the more desirable front end that people love. Those tend to hold their value
the 98 is also the rarest, as it was the last year made and they made the least of those

79k is nothing for a 240, people will want it also solely for that reason, assuming the interior, paint, and body are also clean and the car runs good without any problems.

5speed is another plus, nobody really wants an automatic 240 unless they plan on swapping it and doing all that

the fact that its an SE (sideskirts, white gauge faces, 5 lug wheels as opposed to 4, rear swaybar, possibly ABS and vlsd) makes it more desirable as well

not to mention, if you are the original owner, that makes the buyer the second owner, which is always a good feeling on a car like this

just cause of the fact that its an SE, its a kouki, its 5 speed, and has that low of miles, and has only had one owner, i would say you can get at least 7k for it, then again, we need pictures to see how the car really looks compared to most other 240s

In my area the blue book is $8200 for an automatic in mint condition. I would say $6,500 . Wow still very valuable cars.

What state are you in? Me personally, I would give 6K for that car and not feel bad about it, that is of course after I have crawled through every nook and cranny on the car to throughly inspect it.

You guys would be surprised as to how many 97-98's are advertise as clean, and that have never had body work, that have smashed poorly repaired rear quarter panels. (I have about $400 tied up in diesel/gas going to look at cars the were falsely advertised)

I'm in Maryland. Nope, no smashed quarter panels. Hood's been replaced though because a truck backed into it and the trailer hitch ruined the original one but that's all. Thanks.

I'd actually hold onto this car if I were you. Try to find someone with a garage or carport that you can park it. Have them run it once a month or so to keep things running. That car you have looks to be in fantastic condition! You certainly have a rare 240sx especially for these days. By rare, I mean, that it is stock, paint seems to be good, and it has not been modified in any way. I'm sure these types of 240sx's will be the ones that end up being worth a lot more one day because they are stock and you have very low miles on your car as well.

I wish I could handle another 240sx, but I already have two and like you, one will be going to a lucky buyer soon.

LOL its not a corvette, its not gonna gain any value the older it gets. If everything is as perfect as you say, I would start at 8 and negotiate from there, you'll move it for over 6 guaranteed. If not, somebody robbed you blind.

That's what I'm doing now with my 16V Scirocco but I can't bring myself to part with that one. I know I shoud probably ditch the VW and keep the 240sx...decisions, decisions.

I would put it on ebay offer to ship it at buyers expense. That car is will bring $7500. I would buy the car if I didn't already have a couple of them. I would have no problem paying that for a 1 owner clean a$$ kouki and I don't like paying top dollar for cars. Drift tax the hell out of it. Price it high enough some punk kid won't buy it and drift it into a tree.
