1990 Nissan 240SX, coupe w/ SR20det redtop, stock. 67k miles. bone stockstraight body, uncracked dash.

and

90 240sx 5 speed 12 valve stock ka24e. 136k miles, slammed on ss tien coil overs(new), slotted drilled rotor brake discs, c/f trunk, 2.5 magnaflow straight pipe,viper alarm, bca rims

Yeah our cali cars don't deal with rust, its rare to find rust on them.

so either get one with a legal USDM motor or one with a JDM hide it if you can motor.

well the SOHC either has to have the timing chain adjusted or motor mounts replaced. car has tein ss coilovers, magnaflow, bca wheels, viper 2 way, car system, alot of small mods I plan on getting. If I were to get this car I would swap the engine later this year with an sr or ka dual. Interior and shell is immaculate, reason why I really want to get this and swap engine out. I offered him 2800 but he want's it for 3000.

the SR20det. Had rust on the headers, none I could find on the body (btw can someone tell or show me where there might be alot of rust on a 240?). It has an engine that I want already swapped into it. I do plan on drifting it in the future. For now it's something to just commute with. It's a really clean swap but I'm kinda worried how much of an hassle it might be driving an car with an JDM motor not legal in the states. =/

its legal in some states, just not cali

As for your rust stuff, check for rust in these spots:

-Trunk lip above the brake lights-Rear fenders/rockers-Undercarriage frame rails-The unibody part of the front wheel wells-Inside the rear fender below the antenna. also check down in the rear fenders for any corrosion, water, debris that kind of stuff.

Yup I just moved to chicago and any swap is legal as long as your car is under 95.

And if your car is over 95 just make sure you can pass the emissions test. They don't care

exhaust headers was rusted

SR's don't have headers. They have turbo manifolds. Unless the stock mani was replaced with a stainless steel one it shouldn't be rusting.

Even if it was replaced it should be rusting.
