Depending on how much money you throw at it... Its a 4.5L if you dont stroke it or bore it out you could possibly get 500BHP MAX. Without going EXTREME.

I am looking at those numbers myself all motor, but I am doing porting polishing, cams, ECU, Twin Throttlebodies, Custom Intake runners, Multi-angle valve job, Exhaust Headers, High-flow cats, cat back exhaust, larger injectors and a few other minor things here and there. But all in all quite a bit of work. I was hoping to have it in the car and running by this July, but thats quickly approaching and I have been REAL lazy on working on it. I just now got around to removing the harmonic balancer. Talk about lazy.. had this engine since September. Wow...

I am starting to think I am never going to get this done. Its harder when its just me working on it, and no friends within 200miles to come over and BS with me while I work.

I know exactly what you mean, it comes in waves, sometimes I don't touch it for a couple months and then all of a sudden I get a rush and work on it non-stop. I guess the winter weather has a lot to do with it but then again we just had twin girls too. I've had my engine since 2006.

Since torque is independent of RPM and HP is a number that totally depends on rpm.................the question must include at WHAT RPM?

Obviously at 6900 rpm the HP is pretty limited to less than 6900/5252 = 1.314 times torque and VE is usually ~88% of torque peak [say 340 lb/ft]340x 1.314 x 0.88 =~ 393 HP.At 6,000 rpm:340 x 1.1424 x 0.88 =~342 HP

At 8000 rpm ~~= 455 HP

By using individual TB and porting heads you can increase torque.By running Methanol/Ethanol/racing fuels and increasing CR you can increase torque.

Anyone forget Nitrous Oxide? ;-)A stock motor could probably take a 150 shot...
