With shotpeened pistons it can take 500.

The most I've ever heard of is like 500rwhp but that was with SUPER management and lots of gas. More likely with a decient headgasket 300rwhp would be reliable.

I know people have done more, but I'm trying to stay safe with this guestimate. A lot of guys in Europe swear 250 is the limit, while guys in Japan seem to push 350 all day long with no problems. It all comes down to what management your running and how well you tune it. You can blow up a motor at 200hp with shotty managemnt and or tunning/maintnance, or you could do 600rwhp all day long if your bang on.

In the end it all comes down to you, the motor had fordged rods, and very strong pistons from the factory, so it's good for the HP you just have to treat it right.

Shotpeening as far as I understand it...and this is just off the top of my head of course...is a controllable means of selectively hardening certain parts of a finished casting to produce significant improvements in fatigue properties.

Shot peening is the process of cold forming the surface of a part by means of a propelled stream of round hardened steel shot. The result of this process is a uniformly dimpled surface, the roughness being determined by the shot size and the peening intensity. The process is non-abrasive.

Shot Peening:- increases fatigue resistance- increases stress corrosion resistance- improves surface finish- increases wear resistance- improves coating adhesion

I've never even gotten a quote. You'll have to ask a more seasoned veteran than I.

Honestly I wouldn't want to shotpein pistons, I'd think it would dimple the piston pretty bad, but cryo treating and ceramic coating would make it last longer.

I got my rods shotpeined and it cost me $8, if you want to ceramic coat and cryo your pistons it's going to be like 100, but I went with fordged pistons insted (I would suggest that while you have it appart).

I can get pistons if anybody's interested for a decient price (in either stock or CA19DET form)

Is your CA19DET just bored or stroked as well? And to what extent. Obviously not much, but just curious.

Its all about how much mony and work you are willing to spend, right? Norris Design's demo car at http://web.norrisdesigns.com/F...cid=0 is nice, can you call that "stock"? Nevertheless, that engine would be nice to have in my S13... :D

It is alive, and it's going to be FAST hehe..... 7lbs on my new settup feels like 15 on my old one. As soon as I can get some BIG injectors on it we'll see what she can really do (they come in next week).
