i'd keep the ka, build to stock specs and put a turbo on it.....that way you'll have more torque to play with.(or you can always get another low mile ka for less than $400)

I'd go with a low mileage KA24DE and turbo it. Those single cams are kick *** if you take care of them and don't let them overheat. What's the performance like on a single cam KA with over 300K miles?

if i had two kids and a wife to support the last thing i would be worried about is throwing money into a car.

the E itself is a fine motor to do all kinds of ugrades to. but thats alot of miles for any motor, Id say it would probably need a full rebuild.

i like how people say alot of miles but when i got a hold of the nismo catalog from nissan when i was there.. 2 pages of it is aimed at the SOHC because of its simplicity and its longevity... i would say maybe a qtr page was aimed towards the DOHC with just minor stuff like pistons, rods, cam gear and rod bearings... the SOHC they had listed every single high performance part for that motor... they praised it more then the SR

The sohc can be a beast with the right budget. it's still the preferred motor for scca racing(see sig). If you are on a tight budget though you may want to go with the ca18det. N/A high comp KA is a blast to drive though. However it's not very streetable.
