yay I have a fairly nice chunk of change laying around right now, enough to warrent me pulling head off the 12v and getting some work done. So far I am thinking

PDM Cam - (Intake 268/.441 valve lift, Exhaust 272/.447 valve lift)UR Pulley3 way valve jobPort and polishReplacement of head gaskets/all the misc **** involved with the head - basically a partial rebuild.

Ok now one a side note, I need to go read up on port and polished, but do you always have to get the valves, head, and intake mani ported to match for the full benifit or what?

All this setup is going to need to be run on a KA-T also prolly in the next 6 months, but I am posting it here to see what kind of gains I am going to be making now. If it is only going to be like 15whp or something I will save my $600 and use it to buy a better turbine or something. but let's see what you all have to say.

Please no one that really doesn't know replying to this, thanks.

A proper port & polish, valve job, and cam would probly get you around 10 to maybe 20 depending on where you are starting from. If you are starting with a stock everything else: intake, exhaust manifold, exhaust, ect. then you would see less of a gain, maybe even less than 10 hp. With more mods that are capable of flowing more air than stock (intake/exhaust), the more of an effect the port/polish, valve job, and cam would have with maybe gains of even more than 20 depending on how your porting job is. You say you have $600 so I'm guessing you aren't getting somebody else to port. In case you didn't know, getting your head ported can be expensive, like more than $600. But, before you throw this stuff out, there are a couple of things to think about. First, although this mod seems relatively expensive, the dollars per hp figure is actually better than some other mods. Say like a hotshot header that adds 5 hp for $300 (compared to 15 hp for $600). See what I mean. Although it is more money upfront it is actually a better deal. It's like when your parents buy toilet paper in the "double roll" size by the bulk to save a few bucks. Second, this mod will have a positive effect on any other mod you do to your engine. When you do add the turbo to your car you will have a more efficient engine. The added breathing capability will allow more air into the engine with less boost. This is also safer for your otherwise stock engine. Speaking of stock, that stock setup (cam, valve job, restrictive ports) wasn't exactly designed for the added air a turbo can supply. Why try to make it work anyway? And last, if you can do the port/polish yourself and have some of the tools or know someone you can borrow them from, it is basically a free mod. The only factor is time, and if you do decide to do it, please take your time. It is not a job for everyone. A great place to look is the Standard Abrasives website http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.htm. Hope some of this info helps.

you sure that's not a turbo? If not, those are great numbers with just those mods.
