Hello do you guys know how much for changing Ka24DE timing chain? I went to a shop and he told me about 1600 Including labor. Because he told me he has to put the whole engine out in order to do that. And it takes 16 hrs. But like is it really take that long? Do you guys have any idea? Thanks

the amount of time looks about right, you should be able to find the parts/labor for about 1k though.

Did you mean pull the engine? That's crazy talk! A good Japanese timing kit for a dual will run almost $300. The water pump and front seal should be replaced also because you are there. Parts alone with oil and coolant change should be $450-$500. A good mechanic will have no more than 8 hours in it. The total cost should be about 1k - 1.1k. Basic timing chain gravy for a good shop!

The kits itself (including water pump/front seal) is around 600. I don't know about pulling out the motor though. (when we redid mine, my motor was all ready out) The labor is what will get cha... My boyfriends shop (SC) charges $70/hr and the local dealership charges like 80-90/hr... Check around and see who charges less pure hour and pick a median. Try to find someone who specializes in Imports/Nissans. They'll be able to do it faster than 16 hours

(Oh and I just thought about something FREAKSHOW... you said it would take about 8 hours that sounds about right. The shop is charging the extra 8 hours for pulling the motor and putting it back in)

If I were you, I would check around more for prices.

properly tooled, its something you can do yourself in a day. you don't have to pull the motor off but you're supposed to remove the oil pan, which is a load of crap too.

Don't you have to remove the pan to get the oil pick-up tube off? Then you can pull the front cover (oil pump, seals,...). I'm pulling my pan today to check out a bottom end noise - so I'll update this with fresh info.
