Thanks for everyone's inputs! It's much appreciated. I got another question now.

How much would it be to get the front rotors and brakepads replaced at say for example: Pep Boys or Midas?

Pep Boys quoted me $260 to have the front brakepads and rotors replaced, including labor. I'm not really sure what the "average" price for this is?

Opinions?

do it yourself FTW! doing brakes is so easy, a caveman could do it. unless you have no muscle or tools.

pads should be around $30-$70ish depending on what you want, idk for rotors.ask your local autozone or such what the minimum thickness is for getting your rotors turned($20 for both), and measure them yourself. Otherwise, the store might tell you that you need new ones(learn from others' mistakes) If your rotors can be done, then have them machined/turned w/e and don't buy new ones until you have to.

Thanks for the inputs.

Well, the 2003 Maxima is basically my gf's car. She had the brakepads replaced about a year ago and when she had them replaced, she also had the rotors turned as well. Her car has about 50k miles on it.

But now her steering wheel vibrates a lot when the brake is applied. Could it be that the brakepads are wearing out again or does the rotors need to be replaced? Also, how many times can you turn a rotor?

Sorry for all of the questions.

It sounds like the rotors need to be turned again. The pads should last about 30k miles, so it shouldn't be that unless she rides the brakes while driving.

You can turn rotors until they reach the minimum thickness (usually stamped on the rotor in millimeters).
