i have a 91 240sx, stock suspension( so that's pretty high!) i want to know if i buy lowering spring, how much drop does it takes (15 inch rim)- in order for the tire to barely touch the wheelwell part, or fender.

I don't think any springs made for the 240 lower it that much. That would be a 3"+ drop. You'd probably have to get coilovers. Which are expensive.

If you search for springs for your car, generally they'll tell you how much the drop is. If you want to know how that'll look on your car, get a ruler.

why would you want to lower it that much anyways, unless its not going to be driven. your tires will rub every time theres movement in your springs

Ride quality is not judged by how low the car is. If you think that way, you're wrong. They make lowering springs specifically for show, and specifically for performance. You see lots of those hondas that bounce all around and are really low? Those are cut springs. And they can't handle worth a sh*t.

Eibach makes a very high quality product that are the best of both worlds. The pro-kit lowers about 1.2 inches, and increase performane quite a bit. The Sportlines lower closer to 2" and also add a lot of handling performance. Though you have to be wary with the sportlines, they kill stocks shocks really quickly. It's advisable to get new shocks with them; KYB AGXs, Tociko Blues, Koni Yellows, etc.
