How much does it realistically cost to get to the Average boost as shown on ka-t.org? I can imagine that one could buy all second and part or someone could buy top shelf new stuff, but what is the average person spending to get to the 300-350rwhp mark. Is it significantly cheaper to hit 200 or 250rwhp

http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6263Average: 300 rwhp to 350 rwhp, you have to start to expect a little more lag. This is about the perfect "street car" limit. No race gas, just good honest street car fun that is fully capable of bring home a 12 second timeslip on a good run.

Turbo Manifold T3/T04E .50 Trim compressor, .60 trim compressor housing / Stg 3 (aka TA31) turbine wheel, .48 to .63 A/R exhaust housing. Internal wastegate optional but not recommended. Downpipe can still be 2.5", but this is as far as I would want to push that. Front Mount Intercooler (FMIC) It's time to upgrade to a larger front mount as the larger will push more air than the smaller sidemount can cool.

Fuel Control 550cc Injectors SAFC2 to control your fuel injectors, along with the stock ecu. MSD BTM At this stage I would be running the BTM to control timing retard. Reflashed ECU-This can be a DIY thing with Megasquirt Tuning or a JWT. Z32 Maf is required, as the stock Maf stops being able to read at around 260 rwhp. Wideband O2 Sensor should be installed for tuning.

Block Internals This is where I would start to consider it necessary to replace you pistons.

good turbo setup capable of making 300whp on stock internals is around 2400-3000. some can argue it can be done cheaper.

you have the basic down, just focus on the tuning and you should be ok. as for the tuned ecu you will probably need a safc to fine tune for your application. if you have a tuned ecu jwt/enthaply you dont need the btm..

A few questions if people don't mind. What is the difference between SAFC2 (listed in original post) and safc (said by turbo2nr). Also how much is a reflashed ECU? And if you had greedy e-manage would you need the reflashed ecu? Sorry for the stupid questions, just figured i'd ask here since the OP is asking about a setup i am interested in.

The SAFC2 is just a newer version. But everyone just puts SAFC for the sake of generalization. Most ecu's are in the $500 range. Enthalpy and JWT are the most common and wide used. An e-manage is just a piggyback (like SAFC). However depending on which model you get, you can control fuel and timing with it. This makes it more like a full standalone system, but still not as good. In this case you would not need a reflashed ecu.

In otherwords since i have never tuned before, its much better to pay for the ECU and have it done right then screw it up myself learning?

Well it just depends on how well you comprehend the material. There are base settings that you can use to get your car in the "safe" area, and then tinker with it and fine tune it. You would need a wideband for this. Or you can take it to a shop (if you trust them) and have them tune it on a dyno. Just all in how comfortable you are with it.

Is the $2400-$3000 range inclusive of fuel management, piping items, etc. If so, thats a lot less than I would have thought.

It depends on what kind of kit you get or put together, but it can definatly be done with everything you need in that price range.

3k for everthing you need to make your 240sx make 300+whp... if you spend more your probably doing too much...
