Hi. I was in the quest for a 240sx vert during the last couple of months.First, I was seriously considering buying <Shift_Oversteer>'s vert, which is the cleanest vert I've seen so far and tastefully modded too However, after having sold a couple of my toys (97 lexus sc300 black/black 5 speed and 86 buick grand national hardtop) and paying off some debts, I have decided that at this point I just wanna buy something more affordable, even though Shift_Oversteer's vert is a real deal for what he asks.Preferably I would like to buy vert with a 5 speed already swapped.Anyways, I was wondering how much does a 240sx vert NON-SR20 cost :1. with a 5 speed already installed.2. stock A/T3. and finally how much (parts & labor, professional job) for a 5 speed swap??

Thanks.

ps. if anyone has a 5 speed 240sx vert or a clean stock vert for sale, please let me know. BTW, I'm located in Los Angeles, CA.

Bear in mind the following are just estimates. Prices will vary according to region, condition, etcetera. I would say a stock 240 vert will range from $1000 - $3000 depending on mileage, condition, whether you buy it from an individual or a dealer etc. I paid $2,200 for mine with 142k miles (pic below). To buy one that's had a 5 sp swap'll be a bit more. That person will probably have done other mods as well ie suspension, tires, paint, body kit, turbo and/or on and on. I'd say maybe $4 to $5,000 on up to maybe $10k for a totally cherried one. The parts for a 5 sp swap generally run from $300 to maybe as high as 6 or 7 hundred. I've no idea how much to have it professionally done but I'd have to guess around $1300 to $1500. Hope this helps and that these figures are fairly close to accurate. I'm still kinda new at this myself.

Glyph is pretty much dead on... I would have given you the same numbers for everything.

Welcome to the 'vert club.. Keep your eyes on the forums here (as you have been), you'll find a nice deal. Good luck with your search.

Be sure to frequent ebay...you will find quite a few there from time to time. And if you really want a car bad...dont worry about spending a little more to have it "just because"...just dont go overboard. And make sure the car is running up to par and so forth.

Thanks for the compliment. It's even nicer now. Since that pic was taken I've removed the ugly seat belt pillars, replaced the carpet, fixed my "boot" and reupholstered the interior. I just happened to get lucky and come across it on Craig's List (a local classified) within a week of blowing the head gasket on my previous car. Yeah, I thought it was a great deal too until a recent post where someone scored a black one (my preferred color) with only like 90k miles in beautiful condition for around $1000. The reason mine looks so "clean" is probably 'cause I'm a sick puppy; I wash it twice a week (at least) and wax it monthly.

The only place I see any brown is on the bumper cover. That part is plastic, so it's just peeling paint, not rust. But, def. inspect it for rust elsewhere on body panels and undercarriage before you buy it.

Don't stress about the bumper cover.. you can either repaint, or find a replacement used one fairly inexpensively.

Mine cost me 2200.00 cash and I owe the previous owner a reflective graphics package for his Drift car so I figure its about 2500.00.

Mine has a replaced engine and about 140k on the body. Roof works but has a tear, theres a few dings but for the most part its really clean. All the power works. Interior is trashed but no cracks in the dash...just needs new carpet and seats which is typical from what I hear. Runs good but neds an alignment.

This is a rust free car though. Thats basically what I was looking for so it worked out great and I feel the price was right.

Hope this helps you out some.Scott

I paid $4200 on eBay which was probably too much but still a bargain in m y eyes. It is in incredible shape with no rus,t dings or menchanical problems. It had 87,000 miles and was completely stock except for leather seats, door inserts and glove box. I had to replace the top (because I wanted it to look brand new) which was about $900.

So you can buy one that needs work in the $1000 - $2000 range or one that's a littler further along in restoration. It also depends on how much of the work you want to do yourself.

Like I've said before, they're worth whatever people are willing to pay for them....

I paid $2600 4 years ago when mine had 119K miles and a perfect boot, but the car needed a gas tank...

All the parts for the 5 speed usually end up running you about $500-1200 depending where you shop, and a local shop just quoted me 10 hours of labor at $60 an hour to fully install it if I get lazy, but odds are I'll just rbing it there if I run into any problems.

Good luck!

I paid $1500 for mine. It had a blown KA engine and was in Seattle, WA. Thought I got a great deal on a very clean car. Had some issues, so-so interior and some dents and scratches. But, it was accident free and completely rust free. That was the key for me.

I paid 5,000$ for mine. :

It was at a dealer and I was totally willing to pay the premium because of the state it was in, and I doubt I'd ever be able to ever find a cleaner vert.

No body damage besides door dings from parking and opening doors, perfect paint, 107k on the odometer, perfect shifts, and the engine bay looked like it had been babied very well. Not a speck of rust ANYWHERE! The suspension felt great, and the top was in perfect working order. It even had the ORIGINAL FLOORMATS!!! The one thing wrong with it? The speakers were kinda messed up. Now it's sitting in my garage awaiting the final install of the 5-speed. I'll crosspost my swap thread from Something Awful forums here probably.

Actually I had in mind to buy this car (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/car/203767276.html) yesterday.Called the guy right after he had posted the ad, asked him some questions about the car. I was supposed to stop by to take a look at his car around 3pm but I just couldn't cuz I needed a ride (actually I had withdrawn $3k in case i like the car so I could just bring her on my way back home).I told him I would be able to be at his place by 9pm and he told me no problem... just to call him before I leave. and that's what I did. called him... and the guy suddenly said that someone else stopped by earlier and left him a $50 deposit for the car.He asked me if I would like to be contacted if the guy backs up. I just told him politely I'd pass. MoXher fXcker. Flakes. He could have given me a courtesy call to let me know how things turned out.His explanation about the pignose front bumper wan't even convincing.I'm really pissed off.

I have bought 2 of them in the last 2 yrs. one I have posted extended pictures of it. condition when bought and more recent road worthy. The second I posted a couple pics of.

I bought at both ends of the scale. both were autos but I have converted the first to a manual.

I bought a wreaked one with many new parts on it for 1600 and just bought a nice red one at a lot for 4600. The 92 black one had recent rebuilt trans and motor however the work on the engine was poorly done but had a new top, seats, and dash. The 93 red one was in excellent condition other then a few door dings and the rear window not being transparent. Did a complete inspection of the car and only found a torn P/S rack boot and blown tension rod bushings. Cost me less then 100 bucks to fix that. I do ALL my own work so labor is not a factor in any price I quote.

I got both my 5spd s13 and 6spd z33 transmissions free. I only paid for the clutch components and pedals. I bought performance parts for flywheel and clutch kit so I wont quote that as there are many options out there but the pedals, slave, master and hardline ran me about 30 bucks at a local pull your own wrecker.

Took me 4 hrs to do the initial transfer from auto to manual and about 1 hr to do the pedal hydrolic portion. However I do this for a living so times may be higher for the do it yourselfer.
