And that doesnt include the $2500-3200 i spend for a whole cow once a year (seriously. i buy a cow and have it butchered and vacuum packed)
haha ya my boss does the same. he says it's cheaper that way... idk
It can be, especially if you are willing to use the whole cow (lots of hamburger meat). If you just want steaks, it's not cost effective. I have had cows and hogs butchered. Pig is a MUCH better value when you buy the whole hog.

Anyway, probably between $20-50 a week for myself depending how much I go dine-out on the weekend. On the low end if I don't end up dining out.
Since it's just you, do you ever find that it's cheaper to eat out than to cook a lot? I imagine you could end up with a lot of leftovers.

I don't know what you're talking about.

It's definitely cheaper to cook for myself. My job is awesome in that we have a full kitchen in the break room. I make myself breakfast and a big lunch everyday at work. By the time I get home I find myself still satiated that I just end up having a light snack. Cooking for one person can be tricky. Got to stick to less ambitious endeavors like huge pots of chicken soup. :gapteeth:

This is off topic but kinda related:
I'm a full time college student with a part time low income job. I found a place for rent that is somewhat affordable with what I'm making right now(making ends meet with maybe about $100 to spare). I'm thinking about applying for EBT. I think I'll be okay if I have EBT to help out to buy food for me. Should I apply for EBT before or after I move into the new place? I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject, someone please show me the way.

I spend about $70 a week on food. There is just no way for me to eat cheaper and maintain my health. This amount includes alcohol, eating out, and treats.

I've returned to parental mooching to cut costs. I randomly show up at mom's house and dig through the fridge like I'm 14 years old. Then I turn on the TV, scarf down whatever I was able to find, and leave for marching band practice where I talk to my friends about the latest Seinfeld episode.

Damn, that was pretty much my schedule in high school too.

I skimp on everyday meals- cereal with a banana every morning, PB&J every lunch, a salad, another sandwich, broccoli w/ cheese, and a few different dinner-type things- small protions scattered throughout the day.
However, I splurge on Bolthouse Farms juices- I love those things.
Total to about $25 a week plus $15 for juice.
And then I go out for sushi and throw $60+ at a single meal. Mmm sushi.

I've also latched on to Perrier when its on sale, and Target's Archer Farms.

Tomorrow I'm going to give Trader Joe's house brand a try:
