I really loved my Maxima. I did a lot of work to her, and was sad to see her go. But now, my stepson has an awesome car, that is decently powerful, and has an awesome suspension set up. My wife suggested that I get a G35 and give the Max to my stepson. I couldn't say no to an offer like that.

A lot.

I used to feel like I could never sell it, because I'd put a lot of work into it and replacing such an old car in such great shape would be impossible on my budget. That's the biggie...most cars I can afford would require all the same money and effort I've put into my Max over its lifetime--only I'd probably have to do it all at once with someone else's used car.Basically, to sum up: I HATE people who don't take care of their cars and then expect great resale values from them.

Lately, though, I've really been aching for something bigger, RWD, and more powerful, and something that has a manual or an auto that hasn't gone retarded.

In fact, I nearly replaced it about a month ago, but the car I was going to buy was bought out from under me.

However, even if I DO replace it, it'll still be in my care for a while. I plan on giving it to my younger sister when I replace it, which means I won't have to part with it. I'll just have to cringe a lot and hope it doesn't get killed by high school kids.

I didn't replace my I30 with this since its only a two seater...but let me say, most fun I've ever had on four wheels. Definitely outperforms the I30 in cornering but not as powerful.

(This is isn't my car, but same year and color)

Mine is at 278k and has low oil pressure. If replacing the crank seal doesn't fix the leak/pressure, it's time for a different Nissan.

Nice. I've always liked Fiero GTs.

Want to know how you can have even MORE fun with it?http://www.design1systems.com/northstar/index.html

O..I know, I know... The problem is that out here in Cali, smog people aren't very friendly...at least the one's in San Jose. If they see a scratch on your engine they tell you to go the referee. In fact, I had to argue with a tech recently that my grounding kit had absolutely no effect on my emissions...I also had to argue with him about my SRI. In the end he almost sent me to a referee but I talked to his boss, who looked at my car and did one of these: and then passed my car. The purpose of that story was to tell you all the difficulty I would have to go through to swap out the engine on that car... Instead I think, when the 2.8L V6 has run its course, I'll swap in a 3.4L V6. Identical to the 2.8 in every way except internally. Smog people won't know the difference, all my manifolds and equipment will bolt right back up, and I will have a nice 220hp engine instead of a 140hp engine.

for those that do not know, my maxima was totalled on 8-21-07. it still makes me sick to my stomach thinking of all the time, effort, and money that was put into it. it just kills me that all of that can be snuffed out from under you in a mere moment. all because someone (without insurance) couldn't wait a few seconds for traffic to clear. i loved my maxima, and i love it even more now that its gone. this sucks.

anyways, i bought a 240, and so far, not too happy. it will take some getting used to. i'm mainly angry at the fact that no maintenance has been done on this car whatsoever (except oil changes), and it had a blown head gasket that the seller failed to mention. so i bought a car a month ago, drove it for a week, and its been in the shop every since. bluh.

heres' a quick glance at the max through time:

there's the max's life story. sorry to have bothered with all the pics, just felt it needed some proper attention for what its been through with me.

Why a 240? I'll admit they are fun car's to drive, but I would have gone for another max especially considering that you could have used all the undamaged equipment off your totaled one. Not an option?

Love them. When my daughter's G20 was totaled, I was on the internet the next day looking at Max's. Got her a 00 SE with 63K miles (she makes the payments). We used to have an 02 Max SE.

Her 00

btw, her boyfriend drives a 200sx se. My son's gf drives an I30. We like Nissans

I had a '96 i30t 5 speed i bought from my brother in arizona after it was stolen (stolen the day before easter in 2006). i drove it from AZ to MA with no problems at all. I replaced the knock sensor, put it new seats, then bought the G35 coupe 18" weels and some toyo proxes and 3 weeks later the car got stolen. (stolen again two days after Easter in 2007)

i loved it, but it was too easy to steal apparently.....so now i have a VQ30DE to sell with a 5 speed transmission, some doors, deck lid, and some other stuff. I loved it mostly because it had a manual transmission - i actually had a guy from a part place tell me that either i didn't have a standard, or i didn't have an i30...whatta fool
